I really like this guy and believe that he can be a solid rotation player in the triangle.

Check out the move at 8:45:

so here is what phil is thinking ....

Yeah a like him too for the back up C role for us. He will give us good passing and scoring off the bench. The only problem is that he is an awful defender, but we will probably have a another defensive big out there with him.

He actually reminds me a lot of Tiago Splitter. I think this is a good pick.

I also like that he is ambidextrous and has really good foot work. Dude loves contact also. Not a leaper but boxes out really well ala Oakley.

So it's okay to judge Willy Hernangomez based on a highlight video. But if you liked Mudiay's game based on what you saw from a much greater sample size, you're an idiot? Got it.

When was Willy projected to go in the draft? I don't mind him but I think that BPA is always the say to go. Even if it's a talent that doesn't fit your culture, you can always get utility via a trade for additional assets. I like what I see from Willy but I'm not sure if he's better value (or fit for that matter) than Rakeem Christmas who looks like a sane-Larry Sanders clone.

who are you responding to?

part of the reason why they took him was to assist in the development of Porgy.

Wouldn't you say there's a difference between a second round pick and the #4 pick in the whole draft? If Willy sucks, who cares. Most second rounders don't pan out anyway.

You.

And I understand the rationale behind picking Willie. My question is whether it was an effective utilization of an asset? Could we have traded down for him and picked up an additional 2nd rounder in a draft?

Not to deter from the topic but we just used the no.4 pick under that pretense anyway. So what difference does it make in this context (For the record, I never wanted Mudiay but thought he could fetch us a good package in a trade down scenario)?

In a perfect world GH is the andrew Bynum to Kristaps, Pau Gasol. Really, He reminds me of a faster Marc Gasol. The dude really runs the floor well it seems.

I have no idea. I am not a GM. I just watched him play and I like what I see. Could we have ... ? Should we have ...? That is all for the couch GM's with mostly trade rape scenarios that have little chance of happening.

Did you watch him play a whole game? For where we got him and his ties to porgy, I think that phil made a solid move.

I watched Mudiay play and was unimpressed (to pick him @4).

so here is what phil is thinking ....

Careful. I got bashed for suggesting he is a poor man's Gasol.

When people suggest such things they aren't saying that the player is going to be as good but just noting similar styles of play. The way he looks in the post is reminiscent of how Marc looks that's all. He moves and puts up shots in a similar way and uses his thick body to hold off defenders. Just reminds me of how Marc looked when he was young.

I think we drafted him about where he went in the draftexpress mock draft.

He's reminding me a bit more of Mitch McGary but with Enes Kanter's footwork. I like the kid and think he can be a rotation player for us down the road.

I know, right? Me too. Definitely see Splitter...I see some Marcin Gortat/Nikola Pekovic too. Those are all useful players. Nice pickup.
