crz--Norman Powell--can be had for minimal investment and plays D like Tony Allen. Has a similar offensive game as Monta but is developing a quality mid range game. He's also 6-4 215 with a 7 foot WS so he should be able to guard 1-3 . Doesnt need the ball in his hands as much as Monta.

Was a 61% 2FG shooter his sophomore year which is unheard of for a guard. The additional space in the NBA could make him a star.

Powell the more I watch him--the more I feel he could be the NUMBER 1 under rated player in this draft.

well he's low eff% and high usage so there will be a handful of guys from the advanced stats crowd who will look at his WS/48 and say this guy sucks, case closed, but there is more to him than that for sure.

His last couple years have been very good. Dal won 50 games starting him next to Jose 2 years ago. They won another 50 last year with more flux in the backcourt.

He's been healthy, 80 games a season in his last 3 years. He can really score and he gets a ton of steals.

I dont know... it depends on the fit. He's looking for his last big payday I assume. He turns 30 next year.. not the best shooter, more a scorer type. Depends on the other pieces around him. Monta can be a guy who volume shoots you out of games. He can also add valuable scoring if you dont have a ton.

Yeah, I could see it working both ways. Monta has a great mid-range game though and he penetrates, so I could see him working in the Triangle. I could see him actually getting some better shots in the Triangle.

It's a very smart move for him to opt out. He's coming off a 20ppg season, he's 29 and he's one of the only all-star caliber guards on the FA market.

If you want an all-star level guard in FA, it's basically Monta or Dragic. Yes, I'd greatly prefer Dragic, but I think he's somewhat harder to get.

If Fisher can push them to defend that could be an interesting group moving forward.

It's interesting, but I'm not sure how bad they'd be on defense. At best, decent?

And why i you posting about yet another player you like in this draft in a Monte Ellis thread???

Norman Powell is a similar styled player who will cost 2mm over 3 years and is 10 years younger actually plays great D and is a bigger kid. If you have a problem with what i say--there is an ignore feature. Id rather spend 2mm on Powell than 50mm on Ellis even without the experience. We need young assets if we want to get into a trade market some day--we need something other than 30 year old players with massive contracts. Monta Ellis is not a good idea where the team is. He needs to transition out of the SL to 6th man.

That lineup looks great offensively but there's one guy that plays defense in that lineup and it's Gallo who we can't trust for much in his 2nd year.
