IMHO, Knicks need 3 rotational bigs to compete next season Even if they select a big in the draft or sign someone like Monroe, they will still need depth - an athletic upgrade over Jason Smith or Bargs. Maybe they can target someone who won't break the bank - say $6m per or less. Anyone have any feel for the following?:

Kosta Koufas
Brandon Wright
Ed Davis
Kevin Seraphin
Jonas Jerebko
Robin Lopez
Alexis Ajinca
Kyle O'Quinn
Elton Brand
LaVoy Allen
Aron Baynes

And people wonder why I want to draft Willie Cauley-Stein.

(No offense intended to you, Rosey, but that's a depressing looking group)

When 2/3 of the names on the list sound like the bad guy in a bad 1980's B action movie, its generally not a good sign.

@ crzymdups, there are definitely useful guys o that list.

Robin Lopez, Brendan Wright,Ajinca,Koufos

They are all leaps and bounds better than cole,amundson...which im sure you are content having n this team..We need to stop settling for mediocrity

o'quinn, lavoy allen, seraphin might be in the 5mm range....

brand and baynes might come cheap...

aside from that we are going to get priced out of everyone else... if we max someone out..

Jerebko is a decent player, but he has an identity crisis, not sure if hes a PF or SF. needs to play within his game

I like RObin lopez, good rim protector and hustles his ass off, yet wont be anywhere near the max. I am not sold on Monroe for anywhere near the max, and hes undersized

I wouldnt go anywhere near brand, the guy is ancient

If we end up drafting a big then it is like this
PF: Starting PF, back up pf, Lou Amundson
C-Draft Pick, Aldrich, Bachyinski
If we are not good with Bachyinski, then we could get a third string/2nd string center, but keep in mind we still need a starting PG/SG and a back up SF for Melo also.

If we draft a guard then we need
PF: Starting PF, back up PF, Lou Aundson
C: starting C, Aldrich, Bachyinski
For Starting PF-Monroe, Back up-Jerekbo, and our starting C is Ajinca/Brandon Wright.

Why do you guys insist on keeping Lou Amundson? If we want to compete, he is not a guy we need on the floor for any stretch of mins. He was out of the league for a reason, hes been on all 30 teams for a reason.

Rolo is gonna get around 10 million per. I would actually like him as a starter for us and put a offensive PF next to him or even if we end up moving Melo to the 4 spot and then we could sign a SF in free agency like a D.Carroll. If we end up signing Monroe though then we can't sign Rolo as well cause I think Monroe will be better at the 5 then he is at the 4 spot. I like K.Koufos to and he's already said he wants to be a starter with a team next year.

1) He has been a decent veteran guy who knows the plays very well.
2) He will hardly be playing
3) Do you really think we can add 3 PFs in 1 free agency markout and still fill out our back court problems? Impossible.

i really like aldrich... and would love to have him back... there's not much separating him and say robin lopez who i think is a bit overrated at his potential asking price... he doesn't rebound well... and he has a littered injury history....

Agreed, not exactly an all-pro list. Just throwing names out because we do need depth at reasonable $$$'s. Not trying to hit a home run here.
I would also consider holding a last spot for some type of veteran. Not so much for on-court but off-court. Knicks still need to build a professional culture. Chemistry is very important. Someone has to teach the younger players how to be "pros". At some point, we need to stop being a laughing stock.

Brand would have been perfect if he was 6 years younger and his legs were good.

Jerebko is more of a stretch 4- I like him, but I doubt he's a fit- NYY1NYK2 had a good description of him. Brand had a good short game and is an intelligent player.

Does Lopez have any kind of post game or midrange J- I actually don't know much about him.

I like Amundson a lot, and thought he developed his shot a bit with us. Would like him at the end of the bench, but he would be, AT MOST, a 10-15 MPG player.

EnySpree: Can we agree to agree not to mention Phil Jackson and triangle for the rest of our lives?

I wouldn't mind Ed Davis and Ajinca. O'Quinn and Jerebko are scrubs in my opinion.

Rolo is avg 74games if you look at his last 3 seasons. Has a decent Midrange. I agree could rebound a bit more. avgd 1.4 blks per game last yr

I would take a gamble with O'Quinn. He might be a good player for little money.
