![]() I'm glad for this kid. He's come so far with his movement. The people he got with did a series of tests on him and figured out that he had a severe underdevelopment of muscle in his glutes if i'm not mistaken. He was really lopsided in his muscle development in his hips. They said that he should be able to fix his issues and he really has done that. He's come a long way and now he looks really good. Another proof of how good this draft is. There is a TON of talent in this draft.

Little more time to grow as players if they stay in college, but do they actually get trained in the best techniques at the school they go to? Wasn't there some stuff about him not being used properly at Texas, too. Heard him speak before... this year's crop of kids is one of the most "interview ready" I have ever heard. Did that stupid YouTube thing about announcing his decision to go into the draft- a bit too much for me. Knock at Texas is that he did not go inside enough offensively. His choice, or his coach's? DExp had the stories about the tests he's gone through. I didn't see any kind of movement problem- although I thought it was more pronounced when running up and down the court. Might like him above Johnson, and unlike Stein, Turner has shown a shot in games. I've been critical because he finished so poorly this year- might have been misused, or underused, in some games. Like to see his post-up game in competition, since he was criticized for not having using it enough.
Is he doing individual team workouts? If he is, wonder if he been impressing them? EnySpree: Can we agree to agree not to mention Phil Jackson and triangle for the rest of our lives?

![]() VERY IMPRESSIVE. Surprised he isn't being talked about more -- over 6'11" 240 (that's 20 maybe 30 lbs. on Porzingis, just sayin'), long (9'4" standing reach--slightly better than Towns and Okafor), he's clearly athletic (I've read about it a ton but never really thought much about this poor gait deal. To me, it's barely noticeable--I feel it's pretty much a non-issue. Look at this video -- does this look like a non-athletic player with poor mobility to you? That's not what I see), shoots it well from everywhere (3-pt shooting % wasn't all-world this year but all the tools are there--his shooting will be a major weapon for him in the NBA from day 1--look at how soft his touch is), he can score in the post, he rebounds well enough, converts almost 85% at the line and he blocks shots at an extremely high rate. This guy impresses the hell outta me.. I thought he looked GREAT in this video...He's really a complete package big man. A lot was made of Porzingis' workout and rightly so--he looked awesome--but this kid showed just as well if not better. I think he compares favorably to Porzingis, might even prove to be more NBA-ready. I like Kristaps but honestly, what does he have over this kid Turner? Nothing. If anything, Turner has all the same skills plus at least 20 lbs. on KP...NBAdraft.net offers up Chris Kaman as a comparison -- I don't see that. He's more Channing Frye (a much better all-around version)/LaMarcus Aldridge to me -- wouldn't surprise me if he turns out better than Aldridge -- that's high praise I know but Aldridge wasn't always a good rebounder, he's never been a standout rim protector with his size and he's only just beginning to expand his shooting range out to 3. They need to be honed and expanded upon, but Turner's got these elements already. To me this guy's right there with any big man in this draft, including Towns.

![]() Would have liked to have seen him put the ball on the floor for more than one or two dribbles. Turner was nailing his jumpers, has a soft touch, but theres something about his release that doesn't look right.

Good foul shooter- something I look at when considering the consistency in a stroke. I think the criticism was that he would settle for jumpers too much. I always think of shot blockers as guys with inside offensive skills, for some reason, but I think he is much for comfortable facing up. Thought I saw him in a game or two where he got pushed around down low. Is he quick enough to defend at the 4? ![]() he still has a lot of herky jerky to his game... and his biggest knock was that he tended to float out on the perimeter...
if he gets right... he's probably like a rasheed wallace... we have to be considering this guy if we're looking at kaminsky... |

I thought he looked pretty explosive at the hoop--no post moves per se but he knows how to play basketball--Im sure that could be incorporated. He did have a Dirk like step back move 20 seconds in. I listened to the new DX podcast and the guy who runs the site said that for the first time since hes been doing this that the teams themselves are very undecided all the way up the line this late in the process. I'm surprised the Knicks are looking at Looney Johnson and Kaminsky without looking this way--I think he deserves a personal workout. Hes pretty athletic and he has elements of the triangle down there with his mid and 5 point range. And he might be a better shot blocker than Stein. RIP Crushalot😞

In High school he gravitated outside too but he need a Caliperi to force him inside like Towns. Just like UK, UT had poor spacing due to too many bigs and Turner was the only one with range so Barnes let him keep shooting jumpers. The coach was fired for a reason. That being said he knows talent and UT players have perform pretty well. Turner is really my number one trade back choice but I do not think the knicks are looking at him. For his future to really become bright he has to work on his quickness and defend PnRs better or else he will be another Hibbert type big that sags in the paint. |

![]() i've warmed up to him a good deal... and i think he's got the most legitimate upside out of the rest of the picks... i almost prefer him over stein at this point... altho there's a level of safety with stein that you don't get with turner... turner has youth, size, rebounding and legitimate defensive anchor capability...
the offense is a little scary in a bad way but someone has to work with him diligently with that... |

I agree with you on the upside. He just turned 19 y/o less than 3 months ago. I like awkward looking but productive guys. Those are the players people sleep on. However, with Turner his awkwardness is supposedly correctable with strength training. I have him ranked ahead of Stein and even though I had Kristaps at 4 in the top 4 thread, he is ranked slightly ahead of him too for the things you mentioned. I actually forgot about him when I was doing that. Anyway, Stein has defensive versatility but what happens when the ball is shot and he doesn't get the board? Turner 84% ft shooting gives me extreme hope in regards to his offense. |

Stein blocked several of his shots. You can look at the grizzly play by play here. I'm glad the 18yr old Turner kept developing. It's very sad that the 20yr old Stein can't develop anymore and is a finished product. ¿ △ ?

For what it's worth, Stein will be 22 before preseason begins, just like Kaminsky. This is the DraftExpress highlight video Turner vs Kentucky Turner pretty much guarded all the bigs of KU at one point or another. Fouled Stein a few times, but the shots probably would not have gone in. This is not a flattering video for Turner- no hero ball vs big bad KU, but Stein does not come out looking that well here, at least in these highlights. He had no touch on his running jump hooks at all- seems to have trouble using the glass. Turner should have just stepped back, and I think he would have missed some of the shots he fouled him on. KU had the regular crew, plus Polythress(sp?) a pretty strong kid who was not around at the end of the year.. Disingenuous to seemingly imply it was Stein vs Turner. Texas and Turner were overwhelmed by a physically superior team. EnySpree: Can we agree to agree not to mention Phil Jackson and triangle for the rest of our lives?
