After weeks of rigorous workouts, Embiid had not felt pain in the foot, but a recent CT scan revealed an issue in the healing process, sources said. Philadelphia is consulting with doctors on how to best proceed, and it's still premature to speculate on the possibility of another surgical procedure that could sideline Embiid, sources said.

Embiid had been expected to participate with Sixers' summer league teams in July, but that could jeopardized now, sources said. For now, it is too soon to tell how long Embiid will be kept out.

Embiid had surgery for a stress fracture in his foot several days before the 2014 draft, and the Sixers ultimately decided for him to sit out the entirety of his rookie season. Eyewitness accounts of Embiid's workouts in recent weeks in Southern California described dominant, explosive performances, offering a glimpse into the kind of potential that could have had Embiid selected first overall in the 2014 draft. He had been the dominant player in the predraft process after playing one season at Kansas.

So it is quite firm that we will get Mudiay or Russell.

Sad for Okafor. He does not want to see that.

best case is if Towns and Okafor are off the board Philly takes Porzingis and Russell drops to NY. This news just makes Russell falling more of a possibility.

thats another thing he has bigtime conditioning issues. I doubt he ever really makes a impact with his injury and conditioning issues

It might be serious setback considering Hinkle made a statement on it.

Might be why they are trying to get Dario Saric to come over now, even thought it might cost them more to buy out his contract.

Took me a little time to figure out that "Embodied" referred to Ebiid. Got to turn that auto-complete function off, Briggs.

Feel bad for the kid- never really got to see him play in college.

It would seem that the Hinkie analytic model does consider preexisting injuries for large players into the metrics he uses for evaluation.

Embiid had a stress fracture in his back, too, as well as a broken navicular bone in his foot.

This was all before the draft.

Just wondering how members of the UK nation felt about him on draft day, knowing he had a broken back and a broken foot prior to the draft?

I'm told that he does, in fact, have a brain.

I know he gained a lot of weight when he couldn't work out. Was it because he was injured or is this a chronic issue? Also, Walt posting he has back issues already makes him sound like the next Oden. Hope he heals and has a long career but foot and back problems kill careers for big men.

Went to look somewhere about the foot injury before the draft and found he had a back injury- had never heard about that.

Sounds like he was a great young prospect- and he might have dropped a bit because of the injuries, but how do you take a big knowing what you know?

He did gain weight, I think, and I thought I read somewhere last year that Philly was not totally happy with him about how he working to get better.

Sad for the kid.

I did not know that about Embiid's back. I was thinking the same thing about Saric. Also, it seems like there is more motivation to go big at pick 3 for Philly. They do have Wroten, Pierre Jackson, Canaan, Ish Smith, Jordan McRae, Glenn Robinson, and Hollis Thompson in the fold as back court players.

Embiid and OK4 have both been compared to Duncan and Hakeem at certain times...they would have been foolish, IMO, to take OK4 if Embiid was healthy.

I would approach Embiid's injury like I do David Wright's- you have to move on and assume (even though you could be wrong) that Embiid might never be a significant contributor to your team.
