Would the Knicks be willing to trade Carmelo for a 6-10 pick and other assets? Id rather have Towns Kaminsky then Carmelo just for fit and sign DEmarre Carroll.

ditto! lol. carmelo anthony wont be traded in the near future

Knicks should be improved: win about 40 games and maybe sneak into the playoffs. Melo, Rose and even Noah will have some nice moments however this team should be about PORZINGUS. the sooner they make him the primary player, the better

Melo won't be traded, but I think it would be a smart move for the team to focus on our rebuild, and a smart move for Melo to find a contender with whom to chase his chip.

This would be an ideal draft to try to get two top 10 picks to fast track the rebuild.

If we have a rough year this year (which I think we won't) and if we strike out in FA the year after, Melo is GONE, count on it.
But I don't think it comes to that. At his age, I just doubt he will stick around if we can't retool by 2016.

Melo is so entrenched in NY business wise, he isn't going anywhere..He has offices in Manhattan and in Brooklyn..His private investment partnership is staggering..I'm sure he wants to be close to that..He also makes the rounds socially..He endorses upscale stores that isn't available outside of NY..Melo was never going anywhere..The move to NY suited him financially big time..

I think Melos a great layer but hes not a fit for the team I envision. Id rather have two scorers in the post flanked by 3-4 guards capable of scoring 20 points on any given night and a guy like Carroll as my wing F who can guard the other teams best perimeter shooter yet hold his own on offense. Add in 2-3 nice back up bigs and 2-3 back ups wing guards and bang.

Melo is a leak he takes way too many shots which allows opposing teams to easily gear up to guard us and now he will be slower on D than he was before. Not saying he cant still be great --maybe like a Paul Pierce but thats just not what I personally would do.

The only place I see Melo being traded to now is the Lakers. I don't think that is happening either.

They cannot trade him, regardless of willingness. The fact that Melo just (like a month ago) closed on an $11MM condo near the highline speaks volumes to his commitment to being in NY. My only issue with Melo is his lack of commitment to defense (I wish he bought a condo on the defensive block). That said, he has every ability to be a good defender.

I agree if there was a trade, it would be to the Lakers. With arguably 4 years and 90mm left on his career, he can afford to keep the condo for those years. I would accept the Lakers pick for him. Not sure if I would take back any salary.

Regardless, I don't want to give up on Melo.

if we take bad contracts bad, I do not fully consider David Lee a horrible contract if we get picks out of it, especially more than 1 1st rounder
However, if we take a Gereld Wallace, I think it is pretty safe to say Carmelo will not be happy and would want out if a team is offering a decent package for him to a contender, especially one that has no STATE TAX like Houston


Briggs, like I said, you get hot and cold, that is why a lot of posters want you to put all your thoughts in ONE POST so you can see yourself what you say that you forget....
You did this with CA like 10 last season when we knew he was going to OPT OUT of his contract, in which you at times suggest he is the best player available and a discount with the future cost of contracts and would be a steal


The next day you would say trade him for Nate Walters *the next Steve Nash* and Kelly Olynicks *the next Dirk*, and a Eric Green at most, I am serious
That was all you wanted and I am being generous because you would have done it for less
While drafting Mike Muscula with our pick, knowing that he will LIKELY be there at 30-36 but still willing to do it as he is a PF according to you and had advantages if playing PF and NOT CENTER
I like Muscuala, he has improved that he might not be the same player he is today with our poor development staff, look at Iman Shumpert now who was called CHUMP and called D LEAGUE garbage by you and many others while I stuck with him, saying we didn't have the players/talent around him that fit him

In the same draft for Iman Shumpert *who was my 2nd pick after Vucevic, while some wanted Jeremy TYler and Marshan Brooks*
You convinced the entire board or a good portion of it, even sayin it will take at least 1 year before he would likely contribute but when he does, he would be a TOP tier 1-3 pick
You kept it simple back then, with a couple years earlier, with Bynum and even the draft class for Gallo and Jordan Hill, that we should have taken Brook Lopez and/or traded down to get a Center, PG, or other NEEDS with more picks with many different possible scenarios though there would have also been a chance of some busts as well or a couple of combinations if we actually had a good development staff such as

Dragic
Ty Lawson
Jrue Holiday
Teague
Darren Collison
George Hill *and then maybe we could have got Kawaii*

even Derozan or Jennings *who we just released Marbury at the time so I understood we didn't want a *cocky, scoring PG*


Hibbert/McGeee and DeAndre Jordan/Asik who was selected in the 2nd round that you said could drop but would need time and could develop*

So instead of Gallo and Jordan Hill *who we had to get rid of with a future 1st rounder and swap* to unload Jared Jeffries which was making the MLE that Isiah Thomas targetted for a chance to get Lebron and another STAR, which if he did sign with us, I believe we would have won at least 1 ring with Gallo/Wilson Chandler/ and whoever else where draft in the future/MLE signings/ and the STAR to play with him if it wasn't AMARE

However, after hitting Vucevic on the spot, you just went from being HOT to 1 billion random thoughts that you saying very convincingly but change thoughts every 2 post to 2 days
And then bump a post that you want credit for when you also said 100 other things...


I think you have some sort of system in terms of evaluating risk/reward with college talents but your obsessions contradict your analysis of talent because you want to hit and reach for that player that NO ONE ELSE would consider, just to say "I KNEW IT and I TOLD YOU SO"

Carmelo is an anti team character guy--he is no Tim Duncan. Character is a huge part of winning anything. Carmelo from minute 1 was a "me" guy and I don't think you win with a guy like that as your leader.
Carmelo needs to take the most shots he needed to play hurt so he could add to his All star appearances he needed to get traded at the time he wanted so the Knicks lost Gallo Chandler Mosgov and two first round picks--guys that couldve actually helped him win.
He's a great player but it would be in the Knicks "team" interests to have him be great somewhere else.

Guys like Towns okafor and Kaminsky will be far superior to Melo in 3 years and my take is w are not winning any titles in the next two. So if the Celtics are out there and can pull something off where we can Kamniksy and an additional pick and they get Carmelo--Id be pretty happy and we'd be closer to a winner.

Translation, he was not worth what we gave him to us, and not a MAX PLAYER but you thought otherwise and now you want back in....
At least we didn't trade him for just Nate Walters/Kelly Olynicks in which you were willing to do last season as the next Steve Nash/Dirk Nowitski and Pau Gasol


though Kaminski resembles Dirk more than Kelly Olynicks, he is far from Dirk and lacks the extra couple inches in height/reach/ in addition to skills at their age
Dirk had a great all round game and was very light on his feet, that developed a great mid range game/post up game early at a HIGH % to facilitate as well/playing on and off the ball/great PnR player with Nash as both were GREAT SHOOTERS

That wasn't what you were saying FOR YOUR FINAL ANSWER before you flip flopped 10x already LOL
Either way, it depends, if we want to contend for a play off spot next year and go from their, try to accumulate talent, while having enough cap space for at least 1 MAXish talent and more in 2017...


If we do draft Towns, do you think we can pair him with Alex Ajinicia to be our PF/C's TOGETHER on the floor together effectively with CA and WITHOUT CA???
While developing together, especially if we in fact sign Monty Williams to help continue develop him as an assistant with Rasheed Wallace as a development coach, maybe Ben Wallace, and the trainor that worked with Anthony Davis and Ajinicia last season? Whoever deserves the credit and what they did, Monty Williams should have a better opinion that any one of us on their opinions/development on how to develop him and at what price is he worth it, does he have it in him


Can AJinicia be the next 7-2 PF/C like Ajinicia was and last season was just his first season to untapp his potential when the injuries to Anthony Davis/Asik/Ryan Anderson showed some of his abilities...
I do not know what he is really worth at this point but Monty Williams would probably have a better idea to know if "he has it" in him


I was surprised a bit that he didn't get more PT vs GS, with Anthony Davis and him being the best PF/C combo together to cover much ground on DEFENSE and REBOUNDS together
He tried to win and gave Ryan Anderson more PT, with some Asik and going smaller to match up with GS
Or maybe he was trying to hide his value as he is a UFA..
Maybe he had order to want to evaluate Ajinicia and he didn't follow them, so New Orleans can not determine if they should resign him and at what price or not... probably the most likely scenario for whatever reason
