i thought this was kinda funny. what are your thoughts?

Lance thomas - sure ...as a 12th man
Bargnani - no simply for the fact that he reminds me of how toronto robbed us. plus injury prone
Shved - as a backup PG for the triangle
Larkin - i dont think he belongs in the nba
J.Smith - sure as a cheap backup
Cole - sure as a 15th man
Lou Amundesen - sure as a 14th man
Acy - no, im not sure he belongs in the nba
wear - see acy

Knicks should be improved: win about 40 games and maybe sneak into the playoffs. Melo, Rose and even Noah will have some nice moments however this team should be about PORZINGUS. the sooner they make him the primary player, the better

I saw that too... really the only guys I want no part of are LArkin and Acy. I don't really care about the other guys one way or another. I think it's funny that the strongest rpaise came for Wear of all people though

Lance: Sure, good lockerroom guy, gets the Triangle, supports Fish.

Bargnani: NOOOOOOOOOOOO NO NO NO NO NO. NO. No. Nyet.

Jason Smith: I go back and forth on this. I guess for cheap he'd be okay, but I think he's very flawed and borderline useless on D.

Cole: I like his defense and hustle. Weirdly, it feels like he's one of the longest tenured Knicks at this point.

Sweet Lou Amundson: Absolutely, yes. Lunch pail guy. Hustles. Yes yes yes.

Acy: Eh. Nah.

Wear: I don't get why people like him. Never been impressed, other than that first Cleveland game where he checked Bron for a bit (it should be noted, Bron was waaaaay off his game in the early season, until about January)

Larkin: I go back and forth on Larkin. I like him, he plays hard and he's made some clutch plays and I feel like he brings a good energy at PG. He's a little short though and gets killed on D. I do like him as a change of pace guard. I'd bring him back at the right price, I think.

Shved: SHVED! I go really back and forth on Shved. He looked damn good... but with the ball in his hands a lot. And he was running a lot of pick and roll. Was that something Fisher was okay with? Was he breaking the Triangle? He's also not cheap at $4M qualifying offer and $6M cap hold until he signs that QO. I say if we can tell we aren't getting any of the big fish in FA, extend Shved the QO and see how he does for a full season in the Triangle when we are trying to win games. I would like to see more from him.

Likely we will need about 9 minimum contract players or more, so I'm fine keeping any of those at that cost. Apart from Bargs.

good commentary. I really agree. I hear you on Larkin but we would have to be desperate in the backcourt to bring him back. Then again maybe he shows more/works harder in practice so that gets his foot in the door. Same with Jason Smith. He had enough good games and showed some flashes where I understood why we took a look at him. Then he has games where I cant believe he's paid millions to play in this league.

Yes to Cole, Lou and Lance. Same with you on Shved. I was looking at his vids and game logs the other day. He really really played well for us. Like you said, how much of that was usage, bad team, no pressures, etc.. and he's pricey also.

Yeah, I can't tell about Shved. His breakout looked a little bit like Goran Dragic when Dragic finally got playing time. Maybe he's not quite as good as Dragic... or maybe he can be?

Shved is a guy I look at depending on how the draft and FA go for us. He'll be a second or third tier FA. He's a guy who isnt' going to get offers anywhere until the big fish settle anyway. But I do like him, and he gets to the rim and draws fouls, which a lot of guys on this team cannot do.

very very good passer. When I watched him the thing that turned me in his favor is he's not only in motion all the time but he's looking for guys. He made a lot of great high IQ passes. Not always for assists but just moving the ball in ways that hurt the defense and set guys up nicely. Are the what 15? 20ish games good enough for a contract starting at $4mm? I mean we are looking for guys with upside. He had a weird injury so no red flags there. He played great here. Maybe its just a case of signing the guy because he showed everything you could ask for (-durability i guess) so you just resign him and dont outthink yourself.

Does it really make sense to bring in 9 new minimum contract players? We may as well keep most of them as at least they kind of know the system- worry about replacing them gradually over the next two seasons.

They're just minimum contract players, they should be serviceable as end of bench guys- our focus this season just needs to be on adding 1 or 2 starters by free agency, and drafting another. get a bench player for the $3mil exemption.

I've made this point before - that bringing back so many players who contributed to a 200 team is foolish - but the reality is that after Shump & JR got shipped out and Melo left, the core group really played hard - the effort was there, and if you bring a hopefully healthy Melo back, 1 high impact draft pick and 1-3 impact free agents, then that core group becomes support and role players filling in the cracks, and the new guys & Melo can do the heavy lifting as far as every day production.

I think Lance, Shved, Cole & Lou are definites - and unless there is a big upgrade available, Acy is nice, J Smith on the right contract would be great. Wear didn't do much and as far as Larkin, we need an upgrade in the back court - too many marginal role players there - one has to go, and Larkin might be odd man out.

Bargs is such a sore thumb. I'd offer him 1 year at most, minimum type money and the first hurt ankle, off he goes.

But seriously, an undrafted rookie would be better placed into his roster slot so we might roll the dice and have a player develop into a marginal role player.

won't complain if they decide to keep Lou over Lance. I'd like to keeo Alexy, Thanasis and Gallowaay. Add the pick and melo and that's 5 spots. We're likely stuck with Calderon, so that's 6. The rest depends on who we draft. We need big man depth. Are guys like Elton Brand an upgrade over J Smith? Brand would provide veteran leadership. How about David West? We definitely need and experienced defender on the wing. That's 8 spots. The layout of the rest of the roster is murky from there.

Lance Thomas - undecided -see what happens in FA and sign him back based on availability
Larkin- no
J.Smith - no
Acy - no
Bargs - maybe but only at a much lower salary
Shved - extend QO and see what happens
Cole - Yes, will likely be cost effective reserve
Lou Amundson - same as Thomas
Wear - no
Gallo - Yes, team option next year at an out $850K
Ledo - summer league and camp evaluation
