Not really, if a team has a high roster turnover, especially over multiple years, then you will find they have a lot of ex players on different teams- I'm not sure why this blows your mind.

And which of those were Knick fans not begging to get rid of? Only one I can see is Ariza.

Didn't you basically already start this same thread about a week ago?

If you count Nene, then you also need to include those players that were picked with our draft picks that were traded away.

there is a lot more than ariza who many fans wanted to keep.

We'd probably have a better record over the last 15 years if we don't turn over the roster so much.

Pretty much. Let's see....a thread started last week under the Heading "Fun Trivia Question" about former Knicks now in the playoffs vs. a thread started today titled "The Knicks are in the Playoffs" about former Knicks now in the playoffs. You do the math.

I think it's a valid point - for everyone saying "the roster sucked, our players sucked, get rid of this bum"... it's obviously not true.

You look around the league and see ten-fifteen-maybe twenty recent former Knicks playing MAJOR roles for contenders.

It isn't the players. It's the organization - from team architecture/construction, to management, to ownership down to the trainers and team doctors.

There's a problem at MSG and it all stems from Dolan's meddling.

One of the few times we had a competent architect and a competent coach under Dolan was Grunwald and Woodson and they were able to win 54 games based on the work of the only other competent architect/coach tandem of the Dolan era (which was basically forced on him by David Stern): Walsh and D'Antoni.

But Dolan couldn't help himself from blowing up both of those tandems. So here we are, watching our former players compete for other teams and hoping we can sign some new saviors.

How did all those players fair when they were knicks?
Look at our record.
Maybe it was Isiah? Lenny? Chaney? Larry? Herb? Isiah? MDA? Donnie? Woodson? Grunny? Phil? Fish?

All good talents but when they came here what happend?

And those who don't learn from the past keep making the same mistakes. Problem was never the players.

Agree......

That is what you get when you have no continuity in an organization. Every two years we have a new coach, a new GM,a new roster, etc

Thank God Fisher is no longer our coach, now let's get Calderon out of here:)

WHich is why Dolan hired an outside consultant and changed the organization. The rebuild is the symptom of good decisions made after years of bad ones.
Dolan set the directive for the franchise for years.
Phil's job is to create a culture and Dolans job is to not infect it.

Funny, all those other teams these ex-Knicks went to have these new players now. Continuity must be a sucky concept for them.

As a Knicks fan, I hope and pray that this experiment is a success. I am so sick and tired of the old way of doing business

You have an outspoken President who says all kinds of weird sheehit. Whenever he feels like it, wherever he feels like it. Where's the MSG Media gulag? Where are the drive-through only interviews? Where is Phil hiding in a hotel closet?

We have a rookie coach who's not dealing with anything but 3rd tier talent and minimal starphucques. Well, he did get divorced. But he hasn't run screaming from the building, (yeah, I know, $25 million can have that affect on a person), but he's not resorted to spilling pepsi and having hissy fits on his more well-heeled assistant coaches.

We have no lame ducks, and our numbfucque owner has resorted to talking third person through Mike Fatincessant as his only form of public interference.

No lame ducks.

Yoots, hardhat working stiff types, an actual rebuild in place and the first quality draft pick since 1985. Culture change has already started.

My only quibble with the original post is that you should have titled it "Knicks are in the playoffs folks" -- "The Knicks" most definitely aren't but "Once-a-Knicks" definitely are... the definite article definitely weakens the gag.
