First off there is no doubt in my mind that Kentucky has 5 first round picks in their frontocurt and they could beat the Knicks in a 7 game series--no doubt about that.
But individuatlstic
Notice Willie Stein and Towns really didnt do much offensively but it didnt matter--West Virginia cant see the basket.
I keep jacking Trey Lyles up in my own mock(I have had him up up to #8) but Im darned to say if this guy is not a 4 5 or 6 pick as an athletic powerful mobile 4 who can go inside outside with power and skill with excellent mid range touch. He is the BEST Kentucky frontcourt player on the offensive end--he is the most versatile and skilled. If he was on a team that featured him he might be a top 3 selection. But in my last mock he will be somewhere between pick 5 and 6.
Marcus Lee isnt a top lottery pick but hes a mid range athletic rim protector who has all sorts of potential that hasnt been explored. He lacks offensive skills and he should stay in school--although Im sure there are teams 15-30 who need an athletic C who would easily find room for that jumping jack. Hes the quickest leaper on that team and hes 6-11.
Their guards have not been consistent this year but they seem to have gotten better throughout the year. I think that atleast one Harrison and Booker are first rounders but it is possible that all 4 guys will eventually be first round picks. Ullis reminds me of a tad smaller freshman Chris Paul--yep he does--but he isnt 6-0 like Chris hes 5-9.
Overall this team is the best college team I have ever seen--and the caveat here is that these guys are almost all first or second year players--which in some ways puts them ahead of even the UCLA teams that went 60-0.
I know they had close calls during the season but they also showed the will to win the fight--these guys are skilled huge tough well coached team players and plays both ways with full effort. There is no doubt in my mind that this would be a very fair NBA team at worst a team that probably could win 25-30 games. They do lack a 3 man but it doesnt matter.
Okafor Towns---You are still getting high value on any of these guys but I stay with my belief--Jahill is the most skilled player by far on the offense--not close not even close. I might be wrong and certainly Towns will score in the NBA and if he does grow those 2-3 inches could be an unstoppable force--but right now he still is a tad raw and plays a little out of control. If you put him on Duke there is NO WAY and I mean NO way that he could carry them like Ok4 does--he simply would foul out and not be reliable he creates too much contact every time I see him. I fully understand why some people think he might be the best long term prospect--I went that way for awhile but right now hes not--hes not close to Ok4. he will need time hes NO Patrick Ewing in year 1. We'll have to wait and see IF he grows a bit more and hones his game out.
