I wanted to pick Galloway but Childs is ahead at this point. I think Langston can be better than Childs but Chris was still a good player. He could score, good on the ball defender, hit some 3s... he had swagger, a killer instinct?

In an NBA where you can't really put a hand on guys on the perimeter I like Galloway. He's been a very good defensive player and he's hit some clutch shots. It's close tho. Like Childs I like his fire and toughness.

+1

I loved Childs. So clutch, tough and heart. Too bad he wasn't always in the best shape to play professional basketball.

If Felton could shoot like Childs we would've been much better off.

Galloway is like Ward but with childs clutch 3pt shooting. Hopefully he becomes a good 3pt shooter like Ward did

Chris Childs didn't start playing until he was 27?

I'd pick Ward over Childs - just a better career.

I voted Gallo because honestly, Ward & Child, while strong competitors, were limited. Gallo might have more upside - hopefully will not under perform what they (Ward & Childs) did.

I hated Childs. I always felt he was one of the reasons we didnt win a championship. Hardaway always killed us in the pg matchup. Childs once asked to come off the bench. That to me was a bad sign. Ward was just a decent player. Not really a pg. But did ok with hard work.
fishmike 9/27/2024 11:00 PM Ug I hate this. The idea of Towns is great until you see what a pussy he is. Jules is a dog. DD was a flamethrower locked up cheap for 3 more years. First Leon move I hate

It's a good comparison -- Galloway is similar to both of those guys. To be honest, none of those guys are that great.

Ward was the greatest QB to ever play for the Knicks. He was actually mediocre but consistent and a hard worker. Childs was also a hard worker but I just never liked him as our PG. To me he was inconsistent from game to game and like a better version of Tony Douglas. Too early to tell with Galloway.

I'll withhold comment on your multiple personalities.

Childs and Ward were more polished as PGs. Not sure Galloway is as good of a ball handler. I think he'll be a better shooter, and hope that he will be able to play defense like those two did. Childs could be tenacious on D, which made up for some disappointments on the offensive end.

Childs was not in the NBA until 27, by the way, so any NBA comparison with Galloway is somewhat unfair. Give Galloway another 4 years of seasoning and you might be able to compare them as players.

Ward developed a pretty decent 3 pointer, but I expected him to be better on the offensive end.

Ward and Childs both disappointed in certain ways, and I expected more out of them, but both were hard nosed PGs who had their moments.

One thing you always have to consider is how their D would hold up today, where physical play on the perimeter has essentially been eliminated from the game.

I just don't see Galloway as a primary ball handler in our future offense, but he should get better as he becomes more comfortable in the role.

Seems to have played many years in the Continental League.

Didn't Childs also have a problem with liquids similar in nature to the Patron that was mention above?

Too soon to say Langston is better than the other two.

? Not sure anyone, even his biggest supporters(something I consider myself to be), see him as a "big-time" player, thats why he's being compared to Childs and Ward and not Frazier/Mo Cheeks.

He's an undrafted rookie playing a position he did not play in college, a lot to put on anyone's shoulders, and he has done pretty well, all things considered. Does he have an unlimited upside...no, can he be a solid contributor, with some seasoning, on a playoff quality team... I would say yes.

If he can give you 12/4/4/1, play solid D, and hit a big shot every now and then, while playing 20-25MPG, will you feel satisfied?

Melo harkened Linsanity with Galloway several weeks back and it's not even close. Apples and oranges...Lin > Langston Galloway. Not trying to take anything away from the young man -- I would just prefer to see them shoot for something better, that's all.

so funny how Galloway gets the most votes when he has done nothing yet to prove his status.

typical knicks overrated their new kids on the block.

Exactly. The age 23 component makes the poll impossible to answer. That said, Galloway has not played at even close to a level that Ward or Childs. There's such a small sample of data for him that it's pointless to even speculate on what will happen in the future. If you were to tell me I could have my choice of one of these three players in their primes next year on the roster, I'd go with Ward, Childs, Galloway in that order.
