Obviously we here are basketball fans. But does that mean we are into the NCAA Tournament?

I can't stand that tournament. The tournament's audience is mostly people:
A) watching amateurs who play lower level skilled basketball
B) rooting for colleges that they didn't even go to
C) watching and rooting for players and teams that they have not once seen play all year

Look, if you went to Villanova, fine, watch the tournament. But outside of that, who gives a rat's tail about this stuff and why would anyone watch it?

Usually no. I'm slightly interested this year but I usually find other things to occupy my time.

I like Uconn just as much as I like the Knicks--I was a huge St Johns fan growing up and I still have a signed jersey from Chris Mullin and Walter Berry. I think you have millions upon million of alumni and basketball lover's who watch every minute of every game. Sometimes I ask why do people like Nascar--whats so great about watching a car go around the track for 4 hours? When Uconn won in 99 that was just slightly better than the Mets in 86--the best of highs. Since then Uconn has been my SA Spurs a program that is incredible and I have been rewarded for being a Mets Jets Knicks Rangers fan by going to the right school! I love basketball I watch it at the Y when 10 year old are playing.

Uconn was always fun to watch and so well coached.

I started following them because of Nadav Henefeld. Remember him?

If you do watch, what team(s) do you root for and why? I went to a small liberal arts college. So I never really feel any connection to the teams in the tournament.

I only watch if we are actually in the draft ... which is rare, and when the israeli's first showed up on the scene.

Eh, not sure that will get me to watch. That's a lot of hours to commit just to learn about a draft pick though. I'd be more tempted to look at the stats and watch the highlights.

it just gets me started and then I start getting into it a bit. I only watch a couple of players and pretty much all the kentucky games ... the undefeated part is intriguing.

same here. Also, back then, players actually stayed in school which made it completely different.

Who would miss a duke kentucky game back then?

i was planning to watch this year, as i almost never do. sadly, my work is taking me out of the country for the week, but at least i should be able to see the elite eight. perhaps all the players we have been discussing will still be there so i can really get a good bead on them. looking forward to the draft, that is fo sho
knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%

Yeah, the Kentucky undefeated story will get me and other non-watchers to watch this year. But other years? Nah. I went to Hofstra. I go to their games, I watch their conference tournament. When they get bounced, there is really no interest in the tournament for me.

You can't say that. When you say auto racing is just "a car going around the track for four hours" that is like a non-basketball fan saying "all basketball is is a bunch of six and seven footers running up and down the court putting a ball in a hoop." Technically they are right; but as b-ball fans, we sure know the game is a hell of a lot more than that. Well, as a HUGE auto racing fan I know that the sport is a hell of a lot more than "a car going around the track for four hours." Don't you, a basketball fan, see far more in basketball than a non-fan would? Well, same for auto racing. Fans of the sport see far more than a guy who doesn't watch it.

Same here, went to a DIII school. I *almost* filled out a bracket, a testament to what this team has driven me to! I just prefer the pro game. I think I'd be more inclined to watch the Women's NCAA tourney: my sister used to watch it and I found it more enjoyable than the men, for some reason.

Something about the whole big money amateur thing rubs me the wrong way.

March Madness is the greatest sporting event in sports. I watch as much as I can and keep track of games throughout the day.

I personally find CBB more entertaining than NBA BB.

In your first post that started this thread you make a complete generalization of what others do

---->Obviously we here are basketball fans. But does that mean we are into the NCAA Tournament? Who is we? You are talking about your own view--so we is actually just you.

--->Look, if you went to Villanova, fine, watch the tournament. But outside of that, who gives a rat's tail about this stuff and why would anyone watch it? Why would you care what anyone else does--who are you to dictate to others what they can or cannot like? I say Nascar is boring--but Im not saying you or others think its boring--get it. You are making generalizations of others but only based on your own opinion.

I tried to watch about 3 min of the game on CBS before Kentucky. I don't even remember who was playing - that's how interesting it was to me. But I couldn't do it!
