Right now you can't factor Calderón into the plans with Shved here.

We owe Thanasis a contract for next season

You have to resign Bargnani even if you think he belongs on the bench. He's worth being in the rotation.

Lou has to stay because of his professionalism and work ethic. That's valuable to a team that is going to need leadership going forward.

We have money but we can't just waive the whole team and buy 14 new players. We need some continuity.

"Lou had to stay"

Why, because he has cute hair?

The bottom 3rd of the league is made up of plenty of guys like him.

He could stay of go, but to say he HAS to stay, like he is of any consequence.

Come on now.

Hector, I would agree with you, as far as skill set. But it seems like the league is lacking guys that give 100% effort. This is turning into a separate skill category now. Back in the day, it was the normal way to play, before the league was corrupted with evil money. Now everybody is a millionaire, so effort is no longer a high priority.

Gotta agree EnySpree. The Draft is going to really be pivotal. If we can get one of those top picks it really boosts our process for rebuilding. The C spot and 2nd guard spot are really where this roster will get a boost, but also we'll need another scorer off the bench IMO.

When you look at it in this realistic way you can see that 2-3 key additions will have a huge impact on the team for next year. If we could draft a Towns and sign a guard like Danny Green I think that would be a very good outcome. There will be some solid players available to Phil. Especially some of these bigs and SG's.

On that list, I'd keep Carmelo & Thanasis, only because he hasn't done anything yet to contribute to this debacle.

The rest can all get gone.

I don't care what Bargnani does the rest of the way bscause it is a ruse.

So the majority of the roster that has produced the worst record in franchise history is coming back?

There is no way we should start the year with Gallo, Shved, Larkin and THjr on the roster as our back court.

Mayne 2 of the 4, but no way all four.

Granted, they're all nice- have nice parts of their game- but they also have giant holes.

And Calderon might be your starting PG!

Larkin is most likely gone. Tim Hardaway JR - nice player, but trade him for a 2nd round pick this year if you can.

Maybe you're looking at Calderon, Gallo, Shved & 1 (hopefully) major upgrade through Draft or FA.

I'm sorry I thought I saw Bargs and Shved starting. Shved hasn't shown enough to be a main back up. Can we at least see him play well for a month? If Bargs is starting or is paid over 2m then Phil needs to go.

Basically, franco12 said it in his 1st sentence.

I hope the whole roster changes except for our fearless superstar.

Even him I'm not to keen on.

I think the point of the thread is to accept the reality that it's not going to be possible to replace every player on the roster given the cap restraints. You have to see which of the current players are worth keeping at perhaps a lower cost than bringing in all new Free Agents for your bench. Phil has to be focused on improving the starting caliber players on the roster. Melo, Shved, Bargs could possibly be in that mix as starters along with our draft pick and a Free Agent. Phil will have to look at doing this to save some money and use it elsewhere on the roster. Of course we'd love to replace them with even better players but we have to also be realistic about those prospects.

I can't see what there is not to like about Shved in that he's got talent, size, skills, BB IQ and he's affordable. He could use a good conditioning program to get stronger but in terms of pure BB he's a good option. It seems some Knick fans are just ready to hate on anything having to do with this Knicks team. Guys have got to let that go and look at this from a more practical view. We can't do a KG, Allen and Pierce or Lebron, Bosh and Wade this summer.

I'm not sure if you all realize that the majority of the guys on the list are already under contract for next year.

Only Thanasis, lou, Bargs and shved are added.

plus I simply placed guys in slots....Bargs and Shved could be moved to the bench if it helps your menstrual cramps.

this is just rough skeleton of what next year's roster might be like.

That's all you want to talk about is "Lou has to stay"? Lou is valuable even as the 15th man. The guy is a pro and a hard worker that will come in and play if need be. So yeah, he has to stay. We need the veteran leadership

Not sure if you all noticed the 7 empty slots....those 7 mystery players will determine where the rest of these guys fit on this skeleton roster

You didn't say much else to point out. The only way ol' Lou is valuable is as a warm body to fill a roster spot up. He does NOTHING that another scrub in the league could do. He could stay of go, I just pointed out the fact that the 'has to' part was silly.

You just said he has value, even as the 15th man - on the worst team in the league!!!. That's as good as saying he has NO value, which he doesn't.

As soon as you said that Lou Admunson has to stay, you turned this into just another pointless thread.

Typical. Nothing to add but dumb ass jokes. Please go away!

This is a very on point topic. The logical approach will be to try and bring back a lot of these guys and continue to develop them. In terms of starting caliber talent that's what the Draft and Free Agency will be for. We can't buy a completely new roster. That's just not practical. People are worried about who's starting but we don't even know who is coming in yet. That'll all shake itself out in time.

Just cuz the team is losing games now doesn't mean that none of these players can contribute in the future when we've added more frontline talent. The Hawks won just one more game than the Knicks last year, but that didn't mean that they should trash everyone on the team. Did the Hawks add a ton of top tier Free Agents? No. They got healthier and continued their progress of development as a team. Now the Knicks will need a lot more work, but the point is that a poor record doesn't mean you have to trash everyone. You have to see who can fill certain roles going forward.

you're hilarious. What makes him more of a pro or harder a worker than anyone else hanging on for dear life in this league.

This is where you want to get your veteran leadership from? Holy ****, that is just too much!!!

if you want 100% effort then abolish both the salary cap and guaranteed contracts.
knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%

Its funny either we have posters who have too much hate or posters who are too optimistic that lose touch with reality.
