As soft as Carmelo is, this kid is definitely the talent he needs to complement his game the same way Miller, Billups, and Kidd did. Check out the excerpt below:

Penn State Fans Chanted “Overrated!” At Ohio St G D’Angelo Russell, Who Proceeded To Go Off On The Nittany Lions
Andrew Holleran

The “overrated!” chant is a popular-but-typically-poorly-used chant in the college basketball world. It was used in poor form by Penn State’s student section Wednesday night.

In the first half of the Nittany Lions’ game against Ohio State, fans chanted “overrated!” at Buckeye guard D’Angelo Russell – perhaps the best player in the sport – while he was at the free-throw line.

That probably wasn’t a smart move, Nittany Lions’ fans.

Russell proceed to go off on Penn State, quieting the blue-and-white-clad crowd on senior night. The 6-foot-5, 180-pound guard has 26 points – 15 of which came on 3-pointers – with roughly six minutes remaining in the game.

Thank God Fisher is no longer our coach, now let's get Calderon out of here:)

Melo has his flaws but he is definetly not soft. He takes a beating against big guys every game and still scores. Besides this year he has been very durable. Back to russell i agree he may end up being the best playmaker in the draft

Playing league leading minutes with a bad shoulder isn't soft either. No need to go off on a tangent about Melo, Russell is an intruiging pick.

so Russell is frazier and Ok4 is Duncan yet Towns is slated for #1. He must be kareem/BRussell.

why do we have to anoint these guys. They are Russell and Ok4.

this, totally agree.

1969, you have posted nonsense after nonsense. when does it stop? you are posting the obvious.. most people put russel at 3 in the draft, so what are you truly adding here?

I really think hes going to be the best player in the draft. I mean you simply cant pass on a 19 yo with the footwork and size OK4 has dropping 20 a night at 65%, nor would I... but I bet Russell is the next Clyde... Drexler . He's just silky smooth in everything he does. A more fluid James Harden 20ppg, 6rebs, 6assists... he's got a great wingspan although he will need some more muscles but he's going to fill that stat sheet out every night and be true impact player

This is a steal--this guy for being in a major conference has been way under the radar and way under rated as a big PG.

This is one reason why I want to get a second #1 pick---he is one of 4-5 players that could be VERY attractive if they are around 23+. We already know about where Russell is going.

No argument that we are getting a treat this year in the draft. The top 4 prospects are all sure things. Even the next group of guys are good. This might be one of the best drafts ever. The nba needs more talent and this draft will provide it.

Thanks for posting this BRIGGS! I mean that kid has all kinds of legit NBA production potential. He's the kind of player that I love. Just fills out the Boxscore in every way. Hustle and intelligence. He just gets it done. Simply AMAZING court vision and pinpoint passing!!! He gets his head in the scrum and comes out with the ball. I think he's an excellent prospect for Phil to try and get another pick for.

briggs - love the fact that you're talkin about kris dunn. i'm a HUGE big east fan, i watch big east all week long and i've seen dunn play a ton this year. this is the kinda guy that jumps off the screen when you are watching him on tv, he's a tough kid who isn't afraid to get inside the 3point line and take people off the dribble. he does it all... the biggest part of his game that needs improving is his jumper, but when watching him, you can tell he has a good stroke, just needs some confidence and fine tuning. would LOVE to pick up this kid with a 2nd rounder. being a big, physical PG, he fits the triangle perfectly.

SMH @ the OP saying Melo is "soft". That's just crazy talk. He's a post-bangin SF who regularly grabs offensive boards and gets put backs in dense crowds. The dude is certainly tough.

why would you compare a guy to Walt and say he should be drafted at 3?

Anyone here other than Nalod and Earl actuslly see Clyde play? I mean that's going way back for a comparison. Isn't there a more recent player you can compare him to like Curry, Westbrook or Harden? Does he defend like Clyde?
