I would much rather have him as our coach
Thank God Fisher is no longer our coach, now let's get Calderon out of here:)

based on what? Denver's 20-39 record with a roster that's much more talented? i wouldn't be surprised to see him brought on as asst. coach though since i know pjax was interested in hiring him.

you have a hard-on for hating fisher, seems pretty baseless to me.

I don't blame him for Denver's situation. I think there is a disconnect between what the front office sees and what was actually on the court. Shaw was my first choice to coach the team. Now? I don't think it is a good time to bring him on as an assistant. It would only undermine the bit of credibility that Fisher has left.

Knicks too had talented players, but like Denver they were mismatch. You can't blame Shaw for philosophical differences between him and the front office. Shaw WOULD be an excellent addition to this team. He possess a link to Phil that none of the current coach has. He played and sat next to Phil as a top assistant.

This is a perfect landing spot for Shaw. I don't agree with the idea that he's necessarily the better coach for the Knicks tho. Who knows? I do think he has a wealth of knowledge from Phil that could be beneficial to have on the staff. Once he gets over the shock of being fired he may see this as a good landing spot. With regard to Fisher, now that he has players who actually want to be here and buy in you can see that he's a capable coach. Some players can be coach killers and thankfully we have cleared out those guys.

Has Shaw been running the triangle in Denver? I like Fisher's even keel personality more but would love to add Shaw to the staff

No. I think Denver's front office wanted Shaw to implement more of an up and down style of play.

Yea that's why Phil's guys never have success. No one is interested in running the triangle. Same happened with Cleamons & rambis. I hope it works here since the coaches and front office is in tune

Shaw had been passed over by quite a few teams by the time the Denver position came along. He was probably getting desperate at that point. Rambis did run the triangle for a while in Minnesota, but Kahn was the GM. Anything done by Minnesota during Kahn's tenure was doomed to fail.

Just like any system based coach, your GM must support the coach bringing in players that fit that system. MDA was ballin with Bryan Colangelo as GM before Kerr started to work against him and bring in players that didn't actually enhance the system. In Shaw's case he had to take the job but it didn't allow him to install the Triangle. This has been the case for all of Phil's guys. Here in NY Fish has full support and that will eventually make the difference. Everything the front office is looking to do will be in support of the system and coach.

I'd like to add Shaw as an assistant, but the media would sabotage that by constantly running the 'Shaw should takeover' crap every time we ran into a rough patch (like they will with Phil, should we ever become a playoff team again).

Shaw alienated his team quickly and never really won them back- not sure if its his fault or the players, but it may be tough for him to get another head coaching job.

I think Fisher's even keel/not rock the boat attitude has been perfect for this tankalicious season. Other coaches would be irrate. Call for personnel changes or resign

I said a while ago that if Shaw was smart he would join the staff. It would probably be the quickest way to getting a HC gig. In Indy he was praised as a great developer of talent.

If Phil is smart he his talking to Fisher now about adding him to the staff to work with Gallo, THjr, and Early.

Also, if Thin a get fired I would raid his staff to help on D.

God no. Phil needs to think outside the box, the box that has all his ex players and coaches in it. Seen nothing from Shaw that should get him an interview.

He ended Andre Miller's 239 game playing streak and gave him the first DNP of his career. This while the Nuggets were statistically better with Miller on the floor. For one ex player to do that to another player tells me all I want to know about Shaw.

I wish, but I do worry about the way he runs players into the ground. Some injuries were unavoidable, but he just doesnt seem to know when to take his foot off the gas. We've seen this happen in NY, never got us far. Wish he could head lean just a little towards Pops way of doing things.

Shaw has been fired, will he be hired by Phil?
