He's earned his way to #3. I dont get why hes not valued higher because everyone needs a guy who's an athletic 6-11 245 who plays good defense has a mid range shot scores in the post rebounds and plays very hard. Right now that is more valuable than the PG's.

Here is his 40 minute output

2014-15 Arkansas SEC 28 818 9.9 17.6 .564 9.4 16.6 .569 0.5 1.0 .476 3.8 4.9 .762 11.6 1.4 1.4 2.2 1.9 2.9 24.1

here is Okafor's

2014-15 Duke ACC 26 803 9.6 14.5 .661 9.6 14.5 .661 0.0 0.0 4.0 7.3 .548 12.2 1.8 1.1 1.9 3.5 2.9 23.2

Not much difference other than Portis is a better shot blocker and a much better FT shooter. He certainly is not above Okafor--but for what this team needs--hes #3.

This would hold some weight if he wasn't playing in the SEC.

Aside from Kentucky, that conf is a joke

Just out of interest, taking injuries out of account, how does Joel Embiid compare with Towns? Who's better?

Joel Embiid if healthy and he stayed would be the #1 pick. That being said there has been nothing but negative reviews on him since he was drafted. If the Knicks were intersted in a swap pick for player--Im sure hed have to pass a multiple of MD tests AND Philly would need to sweeten a deal that would include a series of additional picks as in 19 and 32.

Thanks- I wouldn't risk trading for him, just because I know our luck with injury risk players. Plus serious injuries, plus poor work ethic, plus weight gain on top of back and foot injuries is a toxic combo.

My second pick is Mudiay after OK4. Would love for the Knicks to get overall number one pick and pick OK4 but if the pick is number 2 than its Mudiay, 3rd pick if it comes to that is Towns and 4th Russell. I see only two sure things in this draft Ok4 and Mudiay.

Okafor was unreal tonight on the offensive end. Just unreal for a freshmen--i said it in the draft thread hes already a top3 NBA post player on offense. The problem with Okafor is defense--you need to pair him with a shotblocker.

I think OK4 has good defense. You have to remember Duke doesn't have a wave of bigs like Kentucky. He has to stay on the floor and curtail some of his defensive aggression. He still averages a fair amount of blocks he has some 3-4block games.

Jeees Duke has gone to take Okafor out at end of game defensive situations and he's 6-10. Hes not terrible 1-1 and that will be ok for the NBA if the team has a shot blocker. Still I thought that was impressive he was moving Pierce who is 7 feet 255 all over the place--the guys is nimble and a powerhouse with an incredibly deft touch and can use both hands and great balance. He absolutely holds the ball like a grapefruit. I'm 6-4 and I cant even palm it.

embiid before his injury was on his way to becoming the second coming of olajuwon... after the injury who knows....

this last month towns has been about that level but taking into account the whole year up to this point he's just a notch below and i think that's about right...

portis i've seen play and i like him but he cannot be above russell... there's just no way... the top 3 is head and shoulders above everyone else at this point...

6-4 and can't palm a basketball?

But I think you called it....OK4 would be a beast as a PF.....With Stein as the center (for example). That means, Melo would have to play the 3....And I don't think that's a good plan for a 30 plus player with bad knees.

I would love to get OK4 and trade Melo for another top pick, if that was even remotely possible.

Otherwise, we take OK4, if we can't trade him, oh well....we just have to add a center or defensive player to go along with Melo and OK4.

You're right. If we get Okafor we'd have to get a C who can rim protect and just move Melo to 3. Wed have a big frontline. We need to find some speedy guards who can shoot and drive.

Wow....In the top 20, there are some nice cornerstone defensive young centers in this draft. Wisconsin, UNLV, Kentucky....I know these three teams have bigs that play both ends coming out this year. Phil needs to scrap the triangle and find a way to improve players stock for draft day trades.

Portis and his crew play Kentucky on Saturday.

I understand that it is only one game, but we could get an idea about where Portis stands in the draft after this game.

Game is at Kentucky.

EnySpree: Can we agree to agree not to mention Phil Jackson and triangle for the rest of our lives?

We can rehire dantoni and he can make calderon look like an Allstar and still win only 10-20 games

The unfortunate part of going against Kentucky is you have to take on 2 7 footers at a time all game in the post. You dont even get close to that in the NBA. That being said you're right--if youre NBA ready you should do some damage. Portis is on the clock here--this is a money game for him.
