Well he is from Long Island not a stretch to believe huh?

As we play the Magic tonight a Tobias story had to be written

Here's what we do know, he and Melo trained together during the offseason

And Tobias was one of the first to vouch for Melo's girlish figure this summer

He turned down 4yrs $36mil contract extension to test market as a RFA

Since I've seen some here reject the idea of signing other forwards

Citing playing position issues I wonder what some here think of the idea of Tobias

Receiving a lucrative offer from us, story planted by Berman of course

If he was unrestricted i would say he's a lock to come here. Phil will probably see him as a nice combo forward and high post player in the triangle. Harris operates well in that area and clearly has a relationship built with Melo, which should help chemistry right away. Plus he is young enough to be part of the foundation for a long time. Would love to get him. I see Okafor/Towns/or R Lopez (if we draft Russell or Mundiay) at center with Harris and Melo upfront. Good size, speed, and versatility up front.

Yeah it's good to know that Harris would love to come here. He's another of those young targets out there we can afford to pay and get great value. Brandon Knight is another guy I think would also be a target. These guys are not going to be easy to pry away from their teams but it's worth a try.

Orlando 2015 CAP TOTALS
CAP TYPE BASE SALARY CAP TOTAL
2015 NBA Salary Cap Max - - $66,500,000
Active Contracts $47,918,140 $47,918,140
Cap Holds - - $4,576,074
$47,918,140 $52,494,214
Cap Max Space - - $14,005,786

Orlando looks like they would have the money to match but it would put them at the edge capwise. Still I can't imagine they'd let him go for nothing.

Berman seems to have a hard on for him- has done for months, so I take everything he says about him with a grain of salt. To be honest I'd be pretty disappointed if he was our main signing, or even one of two main signings- I just don't think he'd give us anything we particularly need

I like him but he is not the prototypical phil Jackson power forward and Melo is a sf.

And then You have our draft pick

I think there's probably no way in hell they let Brandon Knight walk. Harris has fallen to bench role. I think the Magic will still match, because there isn't anyone of significance signing with that team for the foreseeable future. What's interesting is Mo Harkless has gone from important piece to no longer playing, he's also from NY and is probably obtainable via a trade. I have no idea if he's any good though! Just remember some good things being said about him a year or two ago.

Home comings never really work well in this day and age. Harris has some talent but nothing that says I want to spend money on. Back up player at best. He probably looking for a big contract that the Knicks should just avoid on a player of Harris' ability.

Tobias has shown strong development every season he's been in the league and he seems to be a decent enough man to man defender at either position. I'd rather gamble on him than an older player like Wes Mathews.

really? Thats mind boggling!

Why is Mathews a gamble? He is a proven player and proven to be excellent.

I like Matthews, I'm just so nervous of

Nearly maxing out 30yr old dudes

Is it truly a sin to try and win with young players

Is Matthews 30? Wow I figured around 28. But 30 from a shooting guard who has remained relatively healthy and his game is perimeter oriented. He should be fine. Look at Vince Carter & Ray Allen.

Matthews doesn't even rely on athletism like Vince did. He's more like Ray

On his next deal you might as well say he's 29

29 is close enough to 30

I see what you did there but still I wouldn't have a problem with him as I would with some other 30+ year olds at near max
