Why can't Carmelo ever say such a thing? (high IQ Vs. Low IQ)

"You really can't get me out of my game," James said. "The only way to get me out of my game is if I miss shots. And then I'm able to still affect the game in other ways. For me, I'm my worst enemy at times. If I'm not aggressive, then that's bad for our chances. So I need to always be aggressive. It doesn't matter if I'm making shots or not, I'm rebounding, defending, getting my guys involved.
Thank God Fisher is no longer our coach, now let's get Calderon out of here:)

Melo would say he needs to stay aggressive and keep shooting until he gets shoots himself out of the slump. Then after being questioned for his decision making He would then say this is New York and you have to be thick skinned and bulletproof to criticism. It comes with the territory yada yada yada

Then CCA & Melo enterprises would send out messages via Stephen A. Smith absolving Melo of any blame.

Melo is a shooter. He looks a bit leaner this year and seems to be getting to the rim more than usual but he's LBJ is a natural attacker that draws more attention and is simply a better passer and superior athlete to help on the other end. Still, good play on both ends comes from high bball IQ and Melo, while improving, isn't anywhere near LBJ's level.

Melo is a scorer. When he is on he is probably the most dangerous scorer threat the league. However when his shot is off he doesnt offer anything else really. I do like his rebounding but thats about it. Thats not a knock on him its just what he is

I just think it fair that since *WE* are paying MElo all that money he should be more like Lebron. In fact he should actually become Lebron. But dont expect any changes from Captain Money

He doesn't excel at anything other than volume scoring. He can't make that kind of statement without appearing delusional.

I think what Lebron said kinda didn't make sense

Isn't "HIS GAME" based on the fact//// "He does so many things well

On a consistent basis", so how could anyone really take him out of his game

Seems to me what takes him out of his game if he can't dominate the ball

And dictate what goes on with everyone on the court

He'd rather Govern, Front & Back seat drive, Mod control, Censor his own team

Don't get me wrong he's very good at doing this

Meanwhile I think if we want to take note and marvel

At words of Wisdom, Knowledge, and Discernment look no further than what Earl has spoken

Yes, I've seen the light! I now truly wish Carmelo could be Lebron. He's got rings. Or Durant, he's got a better, higher, media IQ attitude. Or maybe Gallo? Moz?

Sheehit, I wish Carmelo could be Landry Fields at this point. At least Landry makes all those around him better. Simply by being worse than they are.

Lebron is MVP, only player in the league the last 10 years to carry a team on his back to the finals.

He has been to 5 finals and won 2. No, hes not Michael Jordan Or Bill Russell. He also did not have Pippen or Shaq with him. He carried Dwayne wade to two more blings.

Given that, he can say what he wants. He is a facilitator, so you can give him the ball and he'll know what to do with it.

Give it to Melo, he will usually try to shoot. Give a fast ball pitcher the ball, he'll throw fastballs. its his job, what he does best.
Melo is not a league MVP but has been Player of the Month. He can score. Being a top scorer does not mean you are a winner. Lots of guys won scoring titles on bad teams.

Need we blame Melo for what he is? Top scorers get paid top money. Always has, always will. Haters think if you pay a guy money then he should do other things at an all pro level.
When a team loses they accept part of the blame.

Lebron can carry a good team to the finals. Melo can't. Melo is not lebron. Kobe has never carried decent team to the finals on his own. He had Shaq. He had A great coach. Michael never carried the team without Pippen. Bernard King is in the HOF. He took us to the conference finals. He had an inconsistant career BTW, his knick days were his best. Two years in a zone like few had seen before.

That does not mean Melo "Should", or even could carry a team to the finals.

Lebron has earned his place to make that statement. He is the only one that can say it except Kobe, who is basking in the glory of himself these days and can say anything and get away with it.

Melo is on a team that has won 5 games this season and struggling to find its identity.

everyone says Melo is some great scorer - but I'm not seeing it from him. He has become a volume shooter. Perhaps he always was.

When does he get in the lane?

He is over rated. A slightly better version of JR Smith - a streaky shooter who isn't afraid to shoot because he has an inflated view of himself.

Well, OK, yeah, duh... Carmelo isn't capable of affecting the game in as many ways as Lebron.

Im not even a fan of Melo but trying to take him down a notch by comparing him to the universally regarded best player in the league and quite possibly an all time great like Lebron is kinda silly, dont you think? Couldn't you say replace Melo with about 98% of the other so called "star" players in the league and take them down a notch as well by comparing them to Lebron? There just aren't many 6-9 260 lb Forwards who can run the point, score at a 55% clip, while also pulling down 7+ rebounds a game, well, in the history of the sport.

No one is taking him down a notch, he is down a notch

Actually down many notches naturally, aside from Lebron's comments

If anything when he has a scoring outburst fans try to nudge him

To the rarefied air that is ELITE

You missed the point and if you're going to wail and ball over this

Maybe the bone you should be picking is with Phil who told this Super Hero that is Melo

To "Flesh Out His Game" and grab more rebounds and dish out more assist

No one is asking Melo to be Lebron, we're asking him to affect the game in as many ways as possible other than scoring

There are several players in this league who are a jack of all trades and not a jackass of 1 trade

I think Carmelo is a hell of a talent; I just want to see him play a lot SMARTER when his shots are off. One can easily tell when the offense is not there. If you only convert 2 out of 10 shots, you have to try to use a different approach (I.e: attack the basket, pass to a hotter shooter, set picks to free other guys, rebound, defend, etc). Carmelo has yet to prove that he has that understanding; furthermore, his coaches have yet to find the balls to tell him to stop shooting and get I. Love in other ways. Thus far, Phil has been the first to publicly criticize his game. However, Phil is not on the bench.

Well his pay suggest many doesn't think he's overrated

His Player rankings suggest many don't think he's overrated

Many think he's the best "Pure Scorer"

Many says he's Top 5 Top 10 this that

He's referred to as a Clutch Player

Many feel you can build a team around him as the Centerpiece

Yeah he's overrated

Nice try but sad to say the overrated opinion of him outside of this forum

Is echoed in many circles across the nation

I wish he was properly rated

Yeah he's overrated

Many "feel"......Thats not quantifiable is it?

Its subjective. SO basically you attact those who "feel" he can be a centerpiece.

Most of the "Centrist" are basically in agreement that he can be one of the cornerstones, but not a "Centerpiece".
You can market himlke it, but thats another story.

The other thing is what his pay is. The bottom line is he is paid like a centerpiece but thats market value for him.

That's why I was asking. I can rarely find someone who doesn't think he's overrated. That's what made me question how you can be overrated if so many people think you're overrated.
