http://nypost.com/2014/12/04/knicks-likely-to-whiff-on-marc-gasol-is-okafor-new-hope/ Just because a writer puts it out there its not more valid than anything we have come to conclude. Memphis can rebuild around him, and other teams can make a big push. A team like Philly can do a sign and trade and perhaps offer Noe and another piece with cap space anyway. That gets Gasol his extra year. Durant is the big fish the year after and if we have space it will be a big story for a year. OKC will try to trade him if they can't resign him. Bottom line is to be prepared for what can happen and perhaps something falls into place. As long as we do that Im happy. I can life with the uncertainty of it all. Most fans can't. Berman says we have no chance? He really did not site any facts that most could not see. Memphis is kicking ass and the town has been home for a long time. Its all good but I'm sure visits to his big bro in malibu might have some effect on him. Chilling on the beach the morning after a game before practice would be a pretty sweet life. Same for Miami. Memphis in the winter is not Malibu is it?? Berman, like most writers have to regurgitate the same crap to keep eye on them. Isola is the worst. The true genius of Phil would be to draft a stud, but use the cap space on players whom we have to overpay to pry away from their teams, but the triangle enhances their on court expectations and thus they become upside surprises. Maybe Teletovic is such a player, at 28 years old hitting his prime? A guy like that. Perhaps a Larry Brown "the right way" kind of team where we get a big in the draft to play off of Melo and surrounded by system guys. Also consider that if we bomb out of any plan this year I could see that Melo and Phil could have an understanding then he gets traded and we reboot with plan "B". Melo could still fetch a nice return and we get out from one monster contract. One can go on and on with contingent plans like a chess game. Fans and media will label it one thing, but the reality is what stares you in the face. Life is as such. Blame is a negative energy thats useless. Many things have to come together (Luck)but when it does not people that plan ahead have thought it thru and apply energy in other ways then to stew in "Blame". Teams plan on stars missing games thru the season and prepare accordingly. I can see Phil going after Marc, as he went after Pau. Pau was never coming here but you try and explore. A good exec plans well, even when he fails. |

Caught them once or twice on national TV but Im really not watching too many games. Im in the Carolinas and usually go see the knicks when in town but really not captivated to go in person. I'd rather see them in the Garden. I was in NYC before thanksgiving but the wedding I went to was the same nite they played the 76ers. Its a lot cheaper to see them in Charlotte but just was not into the drive. Im about 90 minutes from the arena there. Three hours of driving for a 2 hour game? Turned out to be a good comeback for the knicks and it would have been a fun game to see. Seven o'clock start so I'd really have to give two hours to get there with weekend traffic. I like the idea of taking a room at hotel next door and make a nite of it but quite frankly Mrs Nalod is not all that into it and most of my friends are not that into pro hoop. Decent tickets and hotel room with a nice dinner is still gonna be $600-700 plus. |
