Given that he is struggling to adjust under fisher's coaching; Will it be a mistake to let him go in his second year? Personally,I believe it would be a mistake to trade him.
Papabear SaysI was a mistake to let Crawford go , it was a mistake to let Xack Randolp go, It was a mistake to let david Lee go, It was a mistake to let Nate Robinson go it was a mistake to let Fry go. What did we gain?? Our problem is that we are too quick to get rid of our young.
crawford is still inconsistent, and he was the king of off season talk when he was here. crawford off the bench is fine, however the knicks were not good enough to have him do that. dont miss him. randolph without structure seems to turn into a head case. dont think dantoni would have provided that if he stayed and not sure if randolph/lee could have meshed. randolph has that structure where he is. not sure it makes sense to think cuz its working where he is now (both lee and zach), he would have made it work here. dont miss nate at all. frye was and is still a big ole softy. i dont think these guys would not have put this team over combined and didnt when they were here as they were being asked to fill much larger roles than they could handle/bad coaches/bad everything. they had to go in order to make attempts to find guys who could handle things and the FO failed to do it.
that said, letting the new kids grow is needed. they need to see what these kids can do. they didnt really do this well in the run to 2010, and it would not be good to repeat that in the 2015 run up.
Wont speak about the other but Crawford and Zach wernt problems here...they competed and gave effort every night. even Nate while being immature always competed. these cats we got now can say that at all.
randolph and lee didnt mix well. you couldnt run one of them at c to keep both on the floor without some bad d. crawford was 20+ one game, 1-13 the next. fall away threes as the shot clock expires... theyve got that guy now. i dont miss any of those guys given the environment as it existed would not have allowed for things to go well. had they hired a diff coach, things could have gone differently. contracts were coming up or were to run over into 2010, so the choice was stick with guys who together i dont think would have had a chance to contend or make a run for the 2010 border. didnt work, however i dot mind the chance they took unloading those guys. i hated the mcgrady trade though.
as it applies to timmy/early/guys not getting mins (i know early is out), i would like to see that change. i would like to see them try and find some role players in a down year rather than rolling out jon bender types. just hope these guys seeking mins are putting in the effort such that the staff sees it. so much of a mess here. are they getting inconsistent mins cuz they arent good, bad practice habits, coaches in over their heads making poor decisions, etc....
