that's what you call a winner's mentality. this guy has won 5 championships and has probably lost a good deal of relatively meaningless preseason games along the way.

when we looked loss last season and loss to boston by 30, i said we are in big trouble, and all i heard was, "ITS A MEANINGLESS preseason game..We were in preseason mode until the all star break.

But if were able to bounce back in our next game, i'll feel much better. It looks like brad went in and said these fckrs look lost, just keep pushing the ball and swarming them..cmon 28 turnovers

the difference is this year we looked terrible because its a new system and we have several new rotation players, last year we brought back the same team and the same coach running the same offense as the year prior and still looked lost and confused, you're right though fish can only play the "its just one preseason game" card once after that there's probably some other reason that needs to be addressed.

F500ONE - the Knicks roster has been together for a week, installing a new system, and you are counting pre season wins as essential?

That is just plain crazy talk. Rotations need to be established and men need to get acquainted, (and learn to trust) in battle.

Please get a grip. It will be at least January before the new system becomes intuitive.

HMM I dont see basketball as rocket science. Travis Wear played exactly 0 NBA minutes but looked more fluid and in tune than some guys who have made tens of millions of $$. I dont see why it wouldnt take 10 adult people 2 weeks to learn how to play a system of basketball. If you cant grasp something simple after two weeks you wont grasp it 3 months later. In Phil Jackson's first year with the Lakers they won 67 games and a championship. Doesnt seem like they had to wait 3-4 months to get anything down. Saying it takes lengthy time is excuse for we dont have the players.

It no longer bothers me that the naysayers have already jumped ship. Mark Jackson once got in trouble saying somethin about Rats and ships. The naysayers couldn't wait for the 1st poor performance or underperforming stretch of games. The naysayers don't think coaching means a damn and think it's all about players. It's a combination of all aspects of the franchise. The quality of players but also the coaching and leadership. For this team there is a major shift in the approach on both ends of the floor. It seems fair to give it time to fully set in. This isn't a sprint...

the knicks have to win 45-46 games and have a strong showing in the playoffs. that is the perspective to keep in mind. if a knucklehead in the rotation says it'll be until january when the squad gets it then guess what-- that's 30 regular-season games.

if this knucklehead is speaking accurately about the offense and the knicks defense is substandard-- a given really-- what do you predict the record will be as of january 1st?

last season it was 10-20. care to hazard a guess about the record this season? last season it would have meant going 35-17 from january 1st forward, or finally clicking to go .667 the rest of the way.

knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%

Fisher said it could take up to 8 weeks.
"I do think collectively as a group, we can expect to take several weeks," he said. "Whether it's four weeks, six weeks, eight weeks, I'm not sure. A lot of it is how guys come together as a team, and I think in a large way, that's the most important part."

8 weeks still puts us at january 1st. anyone want to hazard a guess about the record as of january 1st now that both the knucklehead and the rookie coach have weighed in?

17 games at home and only 13 games on the road by my count-- very kind scheduling but a lot of playoff-caliber teams which is not kind. with the ongoing leadership vacuum i can see the whole thing falling apart unless fisher can maintain belief as a corollary of culture change.

i can see them losing as many as 23 games if i am an outright pessimist but since i am not i can see a 11-19 or 12-18 record.

does this guesstimate constitute naysaying?

Predictions are for Miss Cleo. If, by some chance, a random guess lands on the correct square, there is no prize and there is absolutely nothing to validate one's superior basketball intellect over another.

Every season is different. Every game is different. Players will be cut, injured, traded and subject to personal issues that no one expects. Families will form and be torn apart. Children will be born. Someone will lose a loved one. There is no prediction for that.

Predictions are a complete waste of time.

The Answer Man plays em one at a time.

Melo said after one his first conversations with Phil

He handed him a playbook on the triangle

And said study it

First game of preseason Melo's

Still jab steppin high post and

Doing bounce back dribbles ISO chucks

Same with Amar'e going mano-a-mano

Against Brandon Bass in the post

J.R. Smith it's as if he was on Rucker's Island

Both thinking about getting theirs and potential big payday

You're exactly right Travis Wear looked like

A guy who gets it, because he has IT

I said early on this is the wrong system for this roster

It will work once we quarantine and eradicate some of the disease(s)

To be honest, you always say we're in trouble, so sometimes you're going to be right

Last season I realised we were in trouble when I looked at the roster and realised most of the team was coming off surgery, and we had a team in which most players couldn't actually do anything well (defend, shoot, pass, rebound). This season is a bit different- we have some shooters at least. I'm worried about the defense and rebounding, but we'll see.

I'm not really sure what peoples expectations were for the preseason- you realise we're going to look pretty bad for a couple of months don't you? For me the key thing is seeing how much and how quickly we make progress- last season was so horrific because there was no progression. I expect us to lose a large chunk of games in the first half of the season (the schedule is brutal too)- hopefully we can still scrape some wins,m so that by the times things have clicked, it isn't too late to go on a run.

For me the triangle learning thing only goes so far- it doesn't stop you playing defense. there's no excuse to not make the effort defensively and rebound- it covers up a multitude of mistakes. Back in 1996 or 97 (I forget which- the one where we had just signed Allan Houston, and traded Mase for LJ) we looked rough all season (where the term 'need time to gel' was invented), but we managed to tread water and make the playoffs thanks to our defense and rebounding- our offence was a mess and I'm sure we averaged like 20 TO's a game, but we covered up for it with our defense and rebounding. I'm not going through another season where I have to watch opponents shoot infinite percent- I hope Fisher just plays the best defensive players and the best rebounders, and then the players who think they only have to try on that end when their shot is going in, will get the message.
