I like Kris Middleton too, good player. I just don't know if JR Smith has any real trade value right now.
Bucks have a lot of young players and honestly, the mix of JR and Chris Smith being near impressionable young players, I don't know if the talent upside is worth that risk to a lot of franchises. There's the implied "knucklehead" tax that will come along with JR Smith.
Even if Phil Jackson and Derek Fisher can salvage his trade value, I think perception around the league will be that you NEED PJ and Fish absolutely to control a guy like JR Smith. And I don't know if Smith will do anything but balk and be a a team cancer moving from NY to Milwaukee.
I said this in another post, all it takes is ONE GUY to poison a locker room and sabotage a front office. Rip Hamilton is a good example of one guy who was just walking poison for a team for years. I feel sorry for Piston fans. Tracy McGrady was a bona fide jerk in his last Houston years and was another locker room lawyer with the Pistons. Look how much damage Kobe Bryant has caused the Lakers the past few years with his tirades, open cursing and me first selfish diva act.
I would LOVE for the Knicks to unload Smith, I just don't know if there are any takers ( lots of young smart analytical GMs in the league now. You can't just find a Dumars or McHale to rape in a trade anymore) The team that makes the least sense in it's moves is Sacramento. They just seem to do some head scratching things. If the Knicks could unload Smith onto that clueless Sacto front office, I think that would be a good target.
Sadly the Knicks need to find a team like themselves. Is there another team out there dumb enough to take Bargnani, that contract and give up a 1st rounder to boot? If there is, the Knicks need to speed dial them and try to unload JR.
