Season is still a little bit off, maybe we can use some walking on the common grounds:

what do you think of tattoos? can you be a good person and have one?

when did you get your first, what was it? what's your favorite? what place on the man body do women dig a tat the most on?

the philosophy of the tattoo--- discuss,

anything else, GO!

i have some great ideas for my first, i dig text tats, i'm 30 now

Tattoos are cool, although I have to confess to not having one.
Only negative to a tattoo I can think of is if you visit Japan they will not let you in to any bath houses if you have one anywhere on your body.

I tell my kids when they wanted a Tat that:

1. don't let it define you at this age the rest of your life.
2. Find a design you like. then put a picture of it on your mirror and don't get it for 6 months. After then reconsider the permanence of it.

They don't have one.

A Celtic Knot holds appeal to me as it would symbolize my unity with my family. Draw one end lose and the knot gets tight. thats cool. My family is never out of "fashion" with me. If I won a national championship or professional title I think that would be cool. Win a tennis grand slam and have as small symbol of it.

Tats are cool, but so are a lot of things. They are permanent, that might not be.

I've always subscribed to the theory that it's rather weird when we extend the things little kids do (draw on themselves) to adulthood.
Wander around for awhile and look at some old people with tats. See if that doesn't change your viewpoint on cool. Same goes with earrings on old men.

Unless of course you don't plan on living to old age, at which point you just might have other more pressing problems beyond the need to be cool.

Then again, maybe you don't give a crap about the future. Which I thought was the whole concept behind tatoos.

The practice of body art has been recorded in adult humans for thousands of years.

True, but Look at JR smith. He has "Young Money" on this throat. Has Transformers on his neck. Melo has "WB". Im sure these were good ideas at the time but would not all a lot of this "art".

In many coltures, there is significance to the art. Tats are not always "art"

Art vs. a Mess

Im sure JR's "art" tells a story. "Just Klowning".........???????

And that obviously means little kids weren't doing it for thousands of years? You are seriously making a case for the intellectual value of drawing on one's self?

Cannibalism has also been around for thousands of years. Your point is?

I'm not kidding. I've been to Japan a few times on vacation and was there as recently as February 2013.
Not sure if it is just a custom or a law.. but if you have tattoos over there they assume you are somehow connected to the Yakuza(Japanese Mafia) and will kick you out.
