Amare for Marc and Prince works....

trading Early and future Draft picks is something i would do with the quickness. We have a 5 year window with Phil on board.

Memphis is a dumb **** franchise. All of their moves are questionable, from trading Rudy Gay to firing their coach.

If they would do this now since Gasol hasn't resigned...would you slap yo mama?

Seriously if Gasol privately asked for a trade, and Memphis still can enjoy the salary cap relief they were going to get from prince and Gasol plus get cleananthony and future picks.... It's not bad. Amare supposedly thinks he can make the all start game so that's good for Memphis.

You say turn down....And I say....for what?

If Memphis is a dumb **** franchise what does that make us?

There's zero reason for Marc Gasol to demand a trade from a team and city that by all accounts he loves. There's even less of a reason for him to demand a trade to the Knicks. Even if they were willing to trade Gasol to us they'd be expecting a hell of a lot more back than a player who projects as a decent role player and a 2018 1st rounder.

Now the joy of my world is in Zion How beautiful if nothing more Than to wait at Zion's door I've never been in love like this before Now let me pray to keep you from The perils that will surely come

The only way something like that happens is if some of the players get feed up with the F.O. actions or/and they get bounced in the 1st again.

I agree firing the coach was a questionable move, but trading Rudy Gay was not. I thought they were a better team w/ ZBo as the focal point than Gay and they got rid of his contract to boot.

Do we honestly in our heart if hearts believe Marc Gasol and Carmelo win as contenders?

Stat and Z.Randolph both play PF so there is that conflict.

If it wasn't for Z.Bo getting suspended, Memphis could have beaten OKC in that first round...knowing how close they were with the team that have in the moment why would they disrupt that?

Couple things....

Who are we targeting in 2015? Realistically? Nobody is coming. Only real shot we have is Marc. If he doesn't come then what?

Also everyone acknowledge the fact Memphis is more concerned with winning with cheap players, and gimics (see Vincent carter). So why wouldn't they want Amare since he thinks he's a super hero? Amare had been playing center his whole career. Even Phil thinks he's a center. Maybe Memphis thinks the same.

And they still save money...I think that's all they really care about over there. Win cheaply. No championship aspirations

Lol

Hey I'm just trying to figure this ish out and get some conversation. I know this is unlikely, but it isn't highly unlikely. If this is the guy we want we need to start the necessary steps to get him asap.

The thought of this has me thinking about rasheed Wallace when he was traded to Atlanta then to the pistons.

Nah I want to steer away from giving up future assets and our young prospects. He either comes in free agency or we look for a new upcoming Gasol type player. Maybe there is a Euro big just like Gasol that will fit perfectly in the triangle that we could get for cheaper if Marc can't be had in free agency. At one point Marc was a 2nd rd pick who stayed over seas for a year and grew into the player he is today.

We should look more into options like that.

Do you think Melo's going to agree to that? He'll be 31 this season, if we strike out next offseason do you really expect him to just sit back and hope that we'll eventually surround him with talented teammates?

Remember Vince Carter in Toronto? Remember Melo himself when he got tired of MDA? He'll pout and sabotage the team until he gets traded.

If Melo wants to win then we need as many good players on the team as possible. Trading away Early and future picks don't help the cause. Signing Gasol in free agency to go along with early and picks do. If we miss out on Gasol then we go after another free agent that we don't have to give up assets to obtain.

My options for Center would be Robin Lopez or draw up a tricky contract for Nikola Vucevic. Orlando will more than likely match but depending on the righting of the offer sheet it could give them a lot to think about. Who knws if the Stat geeks are right Cole Aldrich will become a starting center. That would shorten the curve a great deal.

Portland is in a pickle because they will have Aldridge, Matthews, and Lopez up. I don't care about Aldridge but the other two would be on my radar.

Players I think should get a look are

Dragic
Reggie Jackson
Afflalo
Matthews
Paul Millsap
Lopez
Vucevic

You don't say!

So joking around on message boards is verboten? Cause I was just making a silly comment in response to another post that was surely made in jest. Bad joke? Sure but notice it wasn't me who began the tangent. But anyway, duly noted: Only serious business at UK. Either post like you're defending a dissertation or don't post at all.

As for the topic at hand: Memphis may be a "dumb ****" franchise but they've managed to make the conference finals in the last year or two and are a perennial playoff team in the west so they are doing something right to go along with all their dumb****ery. I also think that while their GM is obviously a **** for brains I think if there is one thing he does understand is that Gasol is the proverbial "straw that stirs the drink" on that team and trading him for the $100 million dollar heap of human remains formerly known as Amare and other assorted pieces of Knicks flotsam would be disastrous. Memphis handing ZBo a 3 year extension also tells me that they are going to go with he status quo with their poor mans twin towers lineup.

We ether sign him outright or execute a sign and trade when he is free agent. It ain't happening before that.
