Watching the SummerKnicks share the ball and get after people on defense, with an unflinching point of view, can anyone visualize Amare's skill set with this system?

On offense, intuitive passing ability is a required skill. Stoudemire plays with his head down.

On defense, well... Let's go to the videotape...

It is not personal. Its strictly business.

Nixluva is posting triangle screen grabs, even when nobody asks - Fishmike. LOL So are we going to reference that thread like the bible now? "The thread of Wroten Page 14 post 9" - EnySpree

he's always been the one to talk about sharing the ball on offense - I don't worry about him there - and I think if his mid range jumper can return, he'll be useful on offense,

This one stings because we embraced Amare's optimism, we respected his work ethic and some of us even hurt a bit when his brother died. Amare gave us hope. He even consulted Hakeem and made New York relevant from a big ticket perspective.

Yes Cartman, he IS phenomenal in his attitude and willingness to play in pain.

He will be missed.

Maybe I am being hard on him but it seems like the talk of sharing the ball comes up when he feels like he isn't getting his shots.

It's so funny how he thrived and was an allstar under MDA, whose system is all about ball movement, then woodson comes with the "I wanna Post up Melo and Amare more" shannanigans, and all of a sudden we get silly threads like this.

You throw a guy the ball in the Post, he's either going to get a AND1, the buskets, or the foul, why the hell should he throw the ball back out when all the knicks every do is JUMP shoot under woodson. No one slashed to the basket, no one was hardly moving once the ball went into the post.

So yeah, you can attempt to throw it back out and watch the pass get picked off, throw to 30% shooter like shump, felton, and jr, or maybe kick it back to pablo, and watch him turn down the wide open shot.

Wake up and realize the system dictates the player, the player doesnt dictate the system

Silly

Knicks1248 - time waits for no one. Not even Amare Stoudemire.

This is a health and style question. And it is a question of defending.

Defense.

DEE-fense.

Love Amar'e and his dedication. When healthy he's still a potent offensive player. His defense is horrendous obviously, just a tick higher than David Lee (Amar'e does block a shot once in a while).

Thinking about the triangle, the positives I see in Stat's game are that he can catch and shoot effectively out to about 20 feet, he is excellent rolling/diving to the hoop and finishing, and he is a high energy player on offense. When pick and rolls happen within the triangle, Stat could shine.

The negatives though are big: he is a below average passer and slow decision maker when moving the ball, has below average hands, is a lazy and underachieving rebounder. Also his defense is way below average.

It remains to be seen if the System can help him play more effectively in all areas, or if he doesn't have the BB IQ or skills to thrive. Since he is not part of the future, I see the Knicks de-emphasizing him and diminishing his role. If he's not traded away entirely.

Maximum respect and thanks to Stat for his contributions, but his Knick time has passed and he is no longer a major piece.

I would love an Amare for Jason Richardson trade with Philly. Maybe send them Brown and rights to Nivins.

Lets face misterearl two way players are so rare in the NBA, it's all about team defense. Amare's first yr in NY he finish top 5 in block shots.

You think you will find a PF in this league that defends like Taj gibson, and puts up #s like karl malone.

We complain tyson has no offense game, or this player plays no defense, but the truth of the matter is, your going to either get one or the other.

Your never going to see a player get 20 mill because he's a top defender, but you will see a guy near max mony because he can flat out score on any body (see allan hoston, see melo)

He did fine in D'antonis system which is all ball movement- only became more of a black hole when he started getting reduced minutes and trying to get as many shots as possible.

Perfect answer.

You ever play street ball, and your on a team where no ones passing the ball, or there passing to their buddy and the other 3 guys get scraps. What happens when you finnaly get the ball, no fkng way in hell your passing that ball back..lol

Pass or not, its about winning.

He don't pass, he can watch from the bench. Simple. He don't like that, he can accept a buyout.

Do the job.

He also didn't really pass that much himself.
Knicksfan: Hypocrite league that fines players after the game for flopping but in the game and with obvious flopping they call the fouls.

he is not the best fit in the triangle sad to say. he's also dead man walking. i hope he asks for a trade and someone takes him. i don't like the way the knicks dicked him around, max or no max.
knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%

it seems like in the triangle offense the ball is in the PF's hand most of the time. I think this is a bad thing when it comes to Amare. He is known to turn the ball over an inordinate amount of times. His first possession of every game he played last season seemed to be a turnover. He also tends to go into tunnel vision once he makes a move to the hoop. If the offense runs through Amare I expect him to average 3 turnovers a game with a few near double digit turnover games to spice things up.

Because HE wants the ball more. He wants the ball to move from Melo's hands to his and then he wants it to STOP.
