His only option right now is to sign with Houston...

The Lakers took themselves out of the race by signing Jordan Hill, Swaggy P and picking up Jeremy Lin.

The Bulls don't have any money and the Knicks would have to be willing to accept a sign and trade. What if we don't want their bull**** players? Best players they can offer is Doug McDermott and that Europe stash dude. Boozer is a throw away player. Do we really want Snell?

The Knicks have all the leverage now. So what's the hold up?

I'd go to Chicago. It's a much clearer path to the finals. They have a .600 team without him.

Bonn did you even read my post? He can't go to the Bulls they have no money for him... They have to amnesty Boozer just to give him a pay cut, then they have to trade Gibson to free the money necessary to get Melo. The bulls haven't done that. They are instead rumored to sign Pau Gasol.

I agree, but doesn't Chicago have picks too?

Boozer's expiring, McDermott, Mirotic and all their picks? Im sure they still need to add other players, where to me is the problem. They don't want to lose a few key pieces. We dont have to take their trash. Phil says NO and Melo is fudged.

Is the holdup which offer to take from NY? At this point, if he is coming back, the only way to save face is to take less.

Houston is the only team holding out for him. On Monday if they match Parsons off sheet then they are out too.

If he really wants to go to the Bulls he needs to let them know and see if they are willing to move mountains for him.

I would rather lose Melo for nothing than take back the scraps that Chicago throws our way.

Sorry I should have read it more carefully. I still think Chi would do what it takes to get him if he made it clear they were his 1st choice

They should. They are the ones that want Melo. Don't assume Phil will accept garbage in a sign and trade.

We already have ThJr so we don't need Snell. We have Early so we don't need McDermott or that Euro dude. We have our own in Thanasis. Boozer can play but we have A mare and Bargs so we have no use for him.

Getting a future Draft pick isn't worth take all that stuff back.

2-3 first rounders? They would do that?

Getting all those players means someone gets cut or traded on our end. It's too much BS.

Now Phil could make Melo happy and take on all these guys, but they seriously don't have to. After this season we will be healthy enough to do what we want.

If I was Phil I Would quietly be sitting back and just chillin... That's what he is doing though. We have all the leverage cut we don't need a Melo trade.

I understand your point. However Personally i dotn wnat to pay the guy 129 million because thats insane. If melo wants to leave tahts fine but i would like to get some compensation considering we gave u a lot for this guy

True and thats why the leverage is so important. Chicago makes this Gasol signing and NY has all the leverage to make demands in a possible sign and trade.

Thats why right now we even have leverage on our contract offers. Phil will probably not do it, but if this Gasol deal happens and Houston matches Parsons, suddenly NY can take its max offer away.

But I hope that doesn't happen. I wouldn't mind Melo improving his image by returning at exactly the amount Phil needs to add another star next season while keeping flexibility for the future.

I would be very, very happy with McDermot, Butler and i will take boozer for one year.. why not... this will get us on the path to rebuilding... these pipe dreams of "teaming melo up" with players that can carry him to a finals is pretty much shot... Lebron.. gone... Love, he might end up in cleveland... Durant? he has a better player with him in westbrook, why do carmelo and NY any favors... Aldridge, he says he wants to resign with the blazers..

time to start the rebuild.. now..

I don't think Mirotic is "scraps". Dude could become pretty special - especially in the triangle.

Im not enamored with their pieces either. Had they done this trade before the draft It would of been much better. I really dont want Mcdermott, the guy cant defend or put it on the floor. His ceiling Kyle Korver which wouldnt be that bad if it wasnt the center piece in a trade for a 10 time All Star. The Euro is much more interesting to me

Even if we find that guy with his salary its ging to be very hard to put the surrounding pieces. I think Phil has done a pretty good job with getting some low priced options from nothing but we are still going to need at least 1 real difference maker in the draft and with Melo we should win just enough games to hurt are chances with that

So if Melo says, "hey, I'm going to the Bulls", that Phil Jackson wouldn't be tripping over himself to do a sign and trade? Because if we did that, the Bulls could accommodate Melo and his salary pretty easily. Then they'd have Gasol on a MLE...that team would be instant favorites.

At this point, I'm not sure why we aren't pushing for a sign and trade because the writing is clearly on the wall....we are going to suck and there is no magical superstar on the horizon to save us. We should take the Bulls for everything they've got and start building an actual team instead of hoping for nonsense like Pau Gasol and Marc Gasol coming to the Knicks because of Jose Calderon.

it would be hard to not listen to an offer of Boozer+McDermott+Butler plus picks.

Melo needs to cut the BS
