Very happy about Cole sticking with the Knicks. On a side note they waived Lamar Odom.

Yeah, I thought things looked iffy for Odom when he wasn't on the summer league roster. Cole owned the boards today and he looked like a pro.

I felt Cole was underused last year. He's clearly a better rebounder and defender than he was given credit for. I'm just glad that we have Phil here with his clear judgment on players worth. He locked the kid up and we'll be better for it.

I think we all knew he could rebound and block shots. It's offense that's questionable and our guards weren't going to him any favors last season.

This offense is better in that the bigs get to touch the ball and are closer to the basket by design. The longer the team plays in this system and can refine the spacing and getting used to scoring in it, the better. A kid like Cole can develop his offensive game much faster if he's getting touches on a regular basis like we saw today. He's NEVER touched the ball so much as a player as he did in a short SL game, which says a lot. He won't have to shoot a lot but getting the ball and passing it so much will make him better.

Are they running the triangle in summer league?

More or less. They are very basic sets, when they do run it, which is not very surprising.

He's not a BUM!!! You need to do some research on this kids production despite not getting minutes. If he was getting starter minutes he'd likely be a 10/12/2 Center. The whole idea is to hope you have a serviceable center like Phil has had in the past.

I'v heard this **** about bums all the time,

just because he's a bum now doesn't mean he has to stay one.

the Zen Master might prove to be the spark that settles the Tao within young Cole

Dude was never a bum. He just never got a shot to play meaningful minutes. He was always showing he would be a good rebounder. His per minute production has always been good, but he just hasn't played. He needed time to develop of course, but he has talent and is showing he has heart. If you're a bum you tend not to have those qualities. He's not smooth or flashy but he can be productive.

I think that Cole can be very good at the role he plays (rebounding-bruiser type). The question is, does it really matter? The NBA is changing after all and it seems that finesse big men who can space the floor are moreso in vogue. To make matters worse, it seems that teams have figured out a way to nullify the slower-footed, paint-oriented big men (see Roy Hibbert). So, would you want a brand new walkman or an worn mp3?

That's exactly how you define every bum,

they didn't get a shot to play for a reason, the impetus is on them to drop the buckets and work their way out of bumhood

i agree that they either have it or don't, but it's up to the bum to come correct.

I like Cole. He was DEFINITELY underused last year. One of Woodson's numerous errors last year. He played well whenever called upon and the guy knows how to rebound and deter people in the paint. Aldrich to me has similar tools and could be as effective as Joel Pryzbilla. Joel was a high draft pick and a late bloomer who took 3-4 years to be effective. For a number of years on the Blazers Joel was good for 7-9 rebounds, 1.5-2 blocks in around 25-27 mins of play. I can see a similar role for Cole.

Cole is a Center that boards at a high rate and defends the rim. His points are a plus. We don't need him to be a big time scoring threat. As long as he keeps passing from the post like he showed today and hits FT's and a few hooks, he's gonna be a productive player and that is not the definition of a BUM. You guys need to recognize the difference between a role player and a bum. Cole is a young role player who fits what we will be looking to do as a team.

Nice ... I think cole should start he dose everything chandler did and a lot more he can actually put the ball on the floor and score... Chandler could never put the ball on the floor and if he did it was a automatic turnover... Not only dose cole do all the dirty work he's a rebounding and shot blocking machine ! Cole brings the toughness we were missing all last year... Woodson must have been slAping himself in the face for having this guy ride the pine all last year... Congrats cole well deserved
