The jury's still out on this kid, but he reminds me of a Dana Barros type scoring guard. Maybe he develops better point instincts and we have a lesser Steph Curry-type player? I hear they might use him to trade up tonight, maybe for Ennis. I'd prefer holding on to see what he has, as he had a limited rookie year and might need another year to develop. He's three things we haven't had in a long time - young, quick and a good shooter. You guys for keeping him, or prefer to try to get a late first rounder for an Ennis-type player instead?

I remember hoping that we got him and I was annoyed the Mavs took him.

Looking at him now, I don't see him as a lead guard. He's a solid back up point guard to me....I could be wrong. If he stays I think he will just be Calderons back up.

knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%

Tho Larkin is small he's quick and athletic. He gets steals and is an excellent PnR PG already in college, which is not the norm. He gets steals and is quick on the fast break off steals. He's already a willing passer. His only issue is his size. 5-11 isn't lilliputian as some are making it seem. Obviously there have been smaller PG's.

I like the comparison. I remember Barros being a little stockier and having more range, but I see the similarities. It took Dana a while before he got his shot.

He reminds me of JJ Barea too....Still a back up....Dana Barros had a good 4 season stretch where he scored well....but he still was a bench guy. All-star one year when he averaged 20pts a game before the Iverson years in Philly....

I don't see Shane Larkin reaching that level.

Phil said he sees Larkin as a change of pace PG off the bench, which makes sense IMO. The Kid is quick and athletic and has the ability to get in the teeth of a defense in the half court. which can be very effective off the bench for any team.

What a difference in moves so far this year. Last year Knicks were in a state of panic once the Nets added KG & Pierce. Next thing you know we are trading a 1st for. Bargnani

nothing wrong with that...we currently are in need of such a player....Calderon and Larkin is an nice tandem. But if he can get us something that can help the team then we gotta do that

Yes it is a STARK difference. Phil comes out before the draft and addresses the press and fans...WTF? This guy just gets it. You know Dolan and his minders are beside themselves seeing us have a good relationship with the press and keeping the fans informed.

Yea that's the whole point of assets. Having picks and talent that teams want for a change allows you to make deals. Phil is setting up the table for any eventuality.

The challenge will come in hiding their defensive weaknesses. You can go full court with Larkin at least. Half court is going to be another story.

it took him a couple of seasons to explode as an offensive player. the first time i saw him play he was making elite playmaking passes while he already had THE stroke. so the bottom line is if he is not a legit 2-way player he is the next best thing-- providing more on offense than giving up in defense. that's where coaching really helps. it will be very interesting to see what kerr is able to do with a fairly weak defensive team. is d'antoni looking for work as an assistant coach?

It's really refreshing to see some upbeat talk about the team's direction, instead of the usual doom and gloom that was becoming the norm.

He is a high character kid which is refreshing and needed after last year. Watching video of him against the suns and Dragic could not keep up with his quickness. If a screen was set for him he was able to get away from his man and do whatever he wanted. His pick and role game looks like it would have fit well with Tyson.

With Calderon and Larkin Amare will once again feast. These two are excellent Pick and roll guards.
