Love his game. I say we were good guard play away from being among the tops in the conference and Jose in the triangle with his quickness and sick sick jumper this is such a splash by Phil. What a great trade. Im pumped to see Jose playing at the garden. This guy is going to be a crowd favorite for years drilling threes and making great passes. I feel like we got a legit floor general (and legit prospect in Larkin). Prigioni is a perfect backup. Very similar philosophies. Knicks got better and smarter today. Nice to see we are players in the draft.

Lets hear your thoughts on the Knicks new PG.... fishlike says A+. Savvy sharpshooting vet and speedy neophyte

Happy days

I haven't watched him play a ton but the general consensus on him is that he plays no defense. Hopefully I'm wrong on that.
Knicksfan: Hypocrite league that fines players after the game for flopping but in the game and with obvious flopping they call the fouls.

Definitely got a lot smarter today? Not hard since we are talking about Felton but still. Calderon will be great in the triangle. Gonna have to live with the piss poor defense while he is here though

Imagine Walsh got Calderon for Dantoni or any efficient PG for that matter.

Phil's first major move was a good one. He is thinking like a real GM. When when the last time we had some roster flexibility, youth & picks???

Love the trade. Love Jose. I think Bargs makes a bit of a comeback playing with his old point. I think Jose makes the game a lot easier for Melo if he stays. I also think the Knicks will get some good players with the picks. I think Phil comes away with a sg/sf and a bruiser, Patric Young? I am thrilled that the legend of Tyson has been moved. How much would the Knicks locker room have benefitted from a true leader last year?

The "Legend of Tyson" haha I like that. That's all he was last year, an empty rep.

Jose Calderon is 1 of only 2 active players shooting over 47% on FG's, 87% on FT’s & 41% on 3’s for their career (Steve Nash the other)

Jose n Andrea are stop gaps in the big picture, Calderon may help Andrea B. Who we'll be ridden of in 1yr.
However PG Jose is welcome here by DJ, he is gritty n tough. Until we get that special PG
I've got no issue and NY fans will embrace his tough gritty ways oncourt. forget the stats we need a facilitator, he will fit in.

I think it's true, but neither does Felton.

no he plays it just poorly. Like Steve Nash. Gambles for steals and considers keeping his man in front of him doing his job. If you have a PG that can drill the long mid range shot Jose will need to guard someone else. But the Rondo, Rubio types... guys who feast by getting into the paint he's much better because he's quick and can stick.

Its not his strong point... no doubt. Strength is floor general and spacer and shooter. Perfect for Knicks because this team needs heart and head and he brings those.

A pg who can actually shoot is a big plus. Don't think we had one since Clyde! Maybe Rod Strickland

my only concern is he is on the wrong side of 30.

But, from a win now perspective - showing Anthony the plan & trying to keep him - great move.

Ny got a pass first, old school pg. nice pick up. Also Larkin was well liked coming out last year.
dalembert can give what Tyson gives now.

Ellington is just for salaries to match.

Getting rid of Felton alone odor two picks is great! chandler was a disappointment in his last 2 years. No loss.

More to come I am sure but a good start. I am thinking when all done NY will be a contender this year.

This is probably the best trade the Knicks ever made discounting the obvious successful blockbuster once. When was the last time we got 2 picks back for a player no one wanted and we've had plenty of those over the last 15yrs

Isiah in the 2005 draft. That's about it. Lee, Nate

jose can shoot. he's one of the main reasons i became a raptors fan lol.

but he is probably the worst defensive pg in the league. and he seems to disappear at the end of games or you have to take him out b/c teams go right at him.

his passing is a thing of beauty but that will be taken away in the triangle.

knicks, as presently constructed, are not built to deal with his defensive issues.

ONE OF THE WORST STARTING PG's

Felton and Nash are by far the WORST STARTING PG's
If they are considered starters, at one point in last season they were....

BUT, I agree with you, though both Felton and Nash are by far the WORST STARTING PG's in my opinion

Felton
Nash

Calderon

some other not very good defenders that are starters include,

Isiah Thomas
Curry
Trey Burke

A aged/hurt Deron Williams ironically is a poor DEFENDER now as well

As for Calderon in Dallas, he meshed quite well with Ellis and Carlise's schemes

though he at least at Monta Ellis at times to defend the position, including help defenders with
Though Ellis isn't a good defender, he has has the ability to steal the ball and finish in transition
He has the physical abilities and athleticism, with the speed/quickness to defend the PG position just not the size/strength to use

The combination of the 3 players here could provide much help to hide Calderon

Shawn Marion a great team defender and 1v1 defender despite his age
Dirk, who has a combination of length, mobility, great foot work
Brandon Wright/Dalembert duo with good length/mobility and athleticism

with a couple of rotational players in

Dejuan Blairre who is undersized but is also a decent defender for his size and usually is faster than whoever he is defending and could draw charges and a decent rebounder/help defender as well
Jae Crowder
Bernard James

On a POSITIVE NOTE, we got rid of Felton, which I honestly thought was nearly impossible to do without even using CA to unload him, and still get back 2 2nd round picks, along with 1 1st rounder in Larkin
Also Calderon's strength is that he is ranked on the TOP in term's of SHOOTING and 3pter's for a PG
