Trade Melo and Tyson and see if we can bring back 3 first rounders this year and a future 2016 #1--bring back Boozer for the next year and have a foundation of 3 new players hand picked in this draft a top 5 player in the next draft and full free agency in 2015. That would give us 5-6 hand picked players we can choose to keep or trade out for another biig time player--but thats how boston did it--they did everything after they had 2 years of draft picks and max cap space. I will gladly accept giving up next year or not playing so well for 10 years of success after the fact. Hire Mark Jackson and Patrick Ewing as coach as coach and let Phil teach them what he wants to get done. Fresh slate coaches and team.

BRIGGS - if you were the general manager of an NBA franchise, why would you sacrifice prime draft position in a high quality draft class for two players with cap eating contracts and high mileage on their tires?

Please cite the reason your trade proposal works for the other side, and what franchise is desperate for either Melo or Tyson. Thank you.

He's suggesting we get the top pick from our own pick in 2015.

I think he's unrealistic in expecting many 1st rounders to come back. I have doubts Chandler brings back an even late first rounder. Melo might get you 2 if you can have some kind of bidding war- but what did we give Phoenix for Ama're? Wasn't it a second rounder?

I like the plan. That is exactly what I would do. Stock up as many picks as possible. But I want to throw my endorsement for Luke Walton, Fisher or Hoiberg for coach. I don't want Mark Jackson or Pat Ewing.

well- a lot depends on what Melo decides.

If I were Dolan, I'd hire Ewing as the HC - I'm sure he'd be open to running the triangle- then I would go full rebuild- Melo can stay, but it would have to be a very cheap deal - like 5/6 years $50/60M. Knowing he is going to say no, I try to S&T him & get back something of value - first rounder? Young talent.

Next year is probably bumpy- but with a system and some younger guys that want to play and earn a spot - it wouldn't surprise me to sneak into the play offs. But that is not what I would want - I would want as many ping pong balls as I could get. Sorry Patrick! Just a little payback for how you stuck us with Glenn Rice!

Three first rounders in 2015 and another in 2016 (for Melo and Tyson) is as far-fetched crazy as it gets. Four first round picks in this economy?

The only scenarios that will net us anything would be from Houston or Chicago. I was looking at the Sixers since they have 2 1st round picks but they dont have enough large contracts to send our way. Orlando is another with multiple picks but they too don't have enough large contracts.

It's going to be near impossible to trade Melo for picks unless you send him to Houston or Chicago.

NYKBocker - if Melo wants a ring in his prime, he is walking. He is a free agent. No compensation. No draft picks.

If Melo wants a ring in New York, as an aging role player at 35 (see Kevin Garnett), he will take the money and wait until the roster turns over.

Yes. He is a FA if he opts out....but..you really think he will forgo his last huge contract? By agreeing on a sign-and-trade he gets a chance to play with good teams right now that is missing 1 superstar piece. Houston and Chicago are those teams. He can get his money and he can be with a contender.

Id be willing to take back Boozer from the Bulls so they dont have to amnesty and trade Melo for the 14 and 16 picks in 2014. Chandler is worth a pick between 18-30 this year as well. I don't see how this is not realistic.

We've gone over the Houston and Chicago trades for Melo. What about Washington? I think it's a strong possibility he would accept a trade to Washington. Then we are looking to get back players like nene, Ariza and possibly Beal

If he is really serious about winning a title then signing with the Bullets straight up would be best. That way he still has all the players to contend....but...I don't think he will leave all that money in the table.

Absolutely, but you really think he will leave all that money in the table when he can have the same chance of winning a championship at Houston or Chicago and still get his money?
