Not even close. Yanks have a culture of winning. MSG is a clown house.

Yeah no issues with the Steinbrenners. I think no ownership in the history of sports cares more about winning. They care about the fans and the legacy of the franchise.

What brings this poll up?

Yeah, the winning has nothing to do with these Steinbrenners. (I meant the two running the team now.)
That would be like crediting Dolan for the playoff runs in the 90s before he took over.

I give them credit for 09. At the same time the same team drifted towards relying too much on the home run and not getting hits with runners on base. Swisher granderson texeira were the main culprits

Cano was not one of those guys. He mainted a .300+ batting average 30HR's 100rbis every year. With his defense a 4 tool player. Not 5 because he doesn't steal many bases and doesn't always hustle

Have fun with a Brian Roberts and his .260 average while missing half the season to injury. He is done.

Have fun playing Jeter at short while he is clearly not capable at 40. Not at the plate or on the field

Oh and have fun with former "ace" cc sabathia pitching game 1 in the post season if they even make it

if george is out, the time lines of running things isnt long enough post george to compare to dolan. the yankees could go the route of the knicks given 15+ years of the younger guys running things.

Well theses Steinbrenners didn't fully take over until 2010, which is right when things plummeted. (You're right that they did reportedly have significant involvement before then though.)

I think that Dolan is better compared to mid 80's steinbrenner - horrible and constants meddling.
so here is what phil is thinking ....

All the more reason to have a sensible plan then!
The Steinbrenners have an easier job than Dolan since they don't have to operate within a salary cap. It's really hard to imagine having no salary cap, the ability to outspend everyone, and still only putting together a .500 team.

Ok the young steinbrenners....

well we're talking about 4 seasons so far. There had to be a transition period. The kids were still trying to figure out if they even wanted to keep the team anymore. They put salary restraints on themselves. They ignored the aging guys, and didn't really do anything the last 3 years. This is true.

This last off season I think they woke up this year. They spent the money, they tried to fill holes. They tried to upgrade pitching. They also have given the young guys an opportunity to make a come up to the big show.

I still think they might end up getting Stephen Drew after a while, but they really don't need to.

So I think it's back to business as usual in yankee land. The group will only get better between now and next season. I expect a championship pretty soon actually. That's what the yanks do and I think they are back in track
