Any team with Bargs on the roster makes me depressed.

Lowry how are you planning on that. I don't trust to many players from last year. They pissed a season away because they are guaranteed the money anyways. Guys like Shump and JR underperforming all year doesn't sit well going forward.

I agree. I also would include Tyson on the list of guys that can't be trusted. In fact I think he goes to the head of the list because he is supposed to be the guy that can be trusted to lead on the court and in the locker room. I do like Lowry and Mills on the roster. I think Smith and Shump will both be back next year.

We'd be pretty good but how are we getting Lowry and keep all of our pieces?

Each of them is a year older? Melo and Lowry aren't playing for contracts? Maybe 43-39.

No don't worry we have a time machine behind the showers in the locker room...

Of course they're older, besides the thought of Lowry a year older and playing in a non-contract year didn't bother you when you were pushing for the mid-season Lowry trade (and rightfully so). Have you soured on him?

Looks like a nice team Briggs. Amare and Bargs come off the books as does Tyson so its not cemented in place.

Actually I'd like to see an upgrade at the PG and see the "System" implemented. The reality is a rebuild is a process that likely won't happen over one summer. It would be fun to see it.

Im not sure Lowry is the right fit and if we really need that much an improvement at the PG. I'd like to see someone besides felton but at what cost will it be?

As a fan, I'd like to see how our guys would perform in the triangle.

Before we contend we have to go thru a process. Im realistic and patient.

Why is it always assumed that every player won't play as hard during a non-contract year? I think only a very small percentage work harder on contract years. Most players work hard and play hard regardless of their contract status. This is mentioned a lot and its simply not a factor in most cases.

yea.. sorry, but last year was the one off. It was an everything that can go wrong will year. It happens. Before that for 3 straight years the winning % went up. Ignoring the 3 prior year and focusing on the one year where you had your #2 scorer start the year on a drug suspension then suck for 2 months is just fool hardy. While the roster was not as good the main thing was the roster did not perform as well, and those who didnt perfom well are fixable situations.

Unless its Phil's desire to take a few steps back and deal with losing while there is some roster cleansing or positioning I fully expect this to be a 50ish win team next year again.

90+ mil payroll. The past 3yrs have been a downright disaster

The bar was set so low having lived through Isiah and the 90+mil lottery seasons so I understand why some would be giddy about the mediocrity that was the past 3 seasons

We'd be pretty good but how are we getting Lowry and keep all of our pieces?

1) Straight up for Ray Felton, obviously. Well, I'll throw in a few second rounders and the rights to Chris Smith's Bulgarian league contract.
1a) Toronto owes us one. Big time. Actually they owe us 5 or 6.
2) Any line up with Bargs not starting is fine with me.
3) KMart is history, apparently? You're a bit light in the big man department. No love for Tyler?
3a) Are you injecting Stat's knees with more plasma and Tyson with more calcium?
4) Shump is a forward? Really? Are you overreacting to a few games in the OKC/Memphis series here? He is a doberman, but a rather fragile doberman. Guarding forwards all season long is asking for IR trouble, imho.

Would be better IMO if Shump played SG again and JR went back to the bench as it looks like Iman is coming out of his slump. Lots of ifs, but if Stat looks like he did at the end of the season, if we arent clobbered again by injuries, we get the players mentioned, I think maybe we're good enough for the conference finals but not good enough to beat the Heat or Bulls if Rose is healthy. Wizards also looking like a threat.

Knicks go from lottery for a decade to a winning team, make the playoffs for 3 years straight and their winning % improves every year and you call that a disaster? I dont get it dude.... one bad year, thats the last. Somehow that negates anything good accomplished the last 3 years? But you say your patient enough to rebuild through the draft?

This is part of the Melohate Orgasmatronics that results from finally not making the playoffs. Don't you remember all the promise and excitement during those seasons leading up the the trade debacle? Why settle for mediocre 40 win season avergage when you had the bar set so high with all those great 20 & 30 win seasons out of the playoffs?

Doing better than 20 win teams of the past should not be a metric worthy of a 90 million dollar team in terms of measuring success. I think you just made the point the previous poster was putting across. Those teams under Isiah set the bar so low that pretty much anything would look like success. Did we improve over those teams? Absolutely. Is it enough to get giddy over a couple of dismal playoff performances? Absolutely not.

Yes. We made the playoffs but we continued to starphuch. We do not have a pick this year in one of the deepest drafts in history
