Now that Houston is on the brink of losing and Bulls being out, the popular thinking is that these teams will be coming hard for Melo. Here are what people have been proposing all over media and the net...

Houston
Melo for Asik, Lin, Parsons, Montijuenas, 2 First Round Picks

Chicago
Melo for Boozer, Dunleavy, Butler, 2 First Round Picks

Any other teams that might make the play for Melo?

Neither is plausible IMHO.

Houston is not giving us Parsons + 2 first rounders
Chicago is not giving us Butler + 2 first rounders

so here is what phil is thinking ....

Chicago would give us more than 2 picks if we took Boozer and gave back Carmelo--I agree about Butler--they are not giving him up. It would be 3-4 picks + Boozer and I think we could work with that.

That's 3 guys that would walk right into the starting lineup for us.....Can't see GS giving us that much for an UFA...

Exactly. If the team has cap space and Melo can just sign with them, then we'll be lucky to a get a decent player and pick in an S & T

Exactly. If the team has cap space and Melo can just sign with them, then we'll be lucky to a get a decent player and pick in an S & T

I think that if we got Asik, Lin, Parsons and a 1st I would dance in the streets.

This is not about what we get back, this is about posturing and a market for Melo.

teams don't have salary open then either they dump it elsewhere or they deal with us.

How about PHX and Charlotte. They can sign him outright. Will they make a play for him?

LA can too if they amnesty Gasol But I think they would rather wait until 2015 and go after KLove. But who knows with Kobe and his crazy starphuck ideas.

I thought Gasol's deal was done. Also, they amnestied Artest so they can't amnesty Gasol. But I remember reading an article where he said he did not plan on going back to la. With the plan to keep D'Antoni public, I see no way that he ends up back there.

Had some issues with Pau and Dwight. Maybe Pau goes back to the lakers now.

Yeah, someone had mentioned Houston giving up 2 1st rounders, Lin, Asik and Parsons. We give them Melo. It works salary-wise, and it especially works with the draft picks that we'll use on some Bulgarian or Croation centers who'll never play a game in the NBA .

By golly, I miss John Wallace and Wally McCarty.


IWG wants us to keep Melo at all costs. This has ruined my homer fan experience.

A fair deal would be Asik, Parsons, and a second rounder, salary match or not. Two first round picks in addition to those players mentioned might have been possible if he were 3 years younger but he's pushing 30 and now has developed a chronic shoulder injury.

Edit: Thought it over and one first rounder would be fair.
