The Knicks are playing well now mainly due JR's brain transplant.

He seems to be doing everything right. When to shoot, when to pass, taking it to the whole, playing a lot of PG.

He plays tough defense and can match up on anyone.

He was one of my top hate guys ever but I am willing to shake this new mans hand.

If Dallas can fix awful Ellis then anything is possible.

This Knicks will go where JR takes them.

so here is what phil is thinking ....

no arguing with those numbers. it's the person behind those numbers that needs to be assessed, since jackson is looking to create a winning culture in msg. smith is an *******.
knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%

he stays.

If your Phil and you look at this roster the key is improving internally. When JR is focused is just soooo good. Not a star but damn close. You simply cant sign a guy who can play like that (when he's on) for what the Knicks have to offer, so their best bet is to get him focused.

Phil Jackson got Dennis Rodman focused enough to win 3 titles. My hope is he can work with JR. Age will also help, as maturity is key also. Is that asking too much? Maybe... but JR has all the talent. The problem is between the ears. In Phil we trust.

So who is getting Smith to play like this?

Himself via epiphany ?
Woody ?
Phil - just knowing that there is no more coming in high and phukin around?
Combo?
Herb?

Nothing he hasn't shown before, right? Let's not act like we haven't seen these brainwaves in the not too distant past.
It's when the bad brainwaves take over that have messed up the whole picture and make things fuzzy.
Get this Versionman into the playoffs, and then let's see what happens.

Another "saviour" has been born.

I guess Stat don't count?
I thought everyone was creaming over Shump's D?
Tyson back to double double and creating fear in the lane even when he doesn't double double? They don't keep stats on changed shots and people hearing ugly footsteps.
THJr?
Pablo hitting layups? We talkin' bout layups?

I thought this was a team game?

Where he goes we go. The others are along for the ride.

He plays badly and jacksoff shots, we lose
JR gets a good night sleep (at home) and is on, we win

Are you looking at some of the same Smiffy highlights I am? He's jacking shots alright, they're just going in.
Make the buckets and everybody wins. And loves you. And wonders how we ever got along without you.
Which reminds me of a song...

Please tell me the entire season is not in the hands of one man. Tell me there's something for the "others" to do, other than stand around praying that his jrjock don't cool down.

only because he was around his players every game, preparing there mental for every game, practicing with them every game, and more importantly he had MJ.

I like JR- I know I shouldn't, but I do...

One criticism I do have of him is that whenever they are showing 'highlights' of Knicks blown defensive assignments and head scratching switches, JR always seems to be at the centre of them!

However, his contract is okay, he wants to win and he is capable of playing well (and badly)- bizarrely when he's playing well people seem to forget he plays badly, and when he's playing badly people forget he can play well.

We all love good JR but Phil needs to turn him into consistent JR and we win the lottery.

he is the sh1tiest playoff chucker. If they get in this year, I don't know why but I think that it will be different. Just a gut from watching him recently. I think something may have finally clicked. Or he already spoke with Phil.

Don't know - just hoping.

JR at it again. I find all this tweeting very amusing when he's playing well. Not so much when he is jacking up bricks.

J.R. Smith’s utter lack of a filter in his use of social media is both one of the Knicks swingman’s bad habits and a certain part of his charm.
On Thursday evening, with the Knicks enmeshed in a frantic playoff push in part propelled by Smith’s recent scoring binge, he took some time to rattle off a four-part Twitter series we can call “J.R. Smith’s Guide to Love.”

The moral of the story: J.R. Smith may play the part of the enthusiastic bachelor — just look at some of his previous handiwork — but he’s actually quite picky (roughly 10 percent) when it comes to, you know, “the litter.”

Hopefully he's gone. He can't do it consistently, and worse, even when he can't, he thinks he can.

He is a different player since Jax came in. I don't think that is a coincidence. His shot selection has completely changed and Woody is trying to take credit for it but that's just horsesh1t. The whole team quit on Woody but they are now playing for Jax.

If Phil can get him to play like this than we have a star for cheap and its a huge win.

yea, I don't put too much stock into short term results.. I look at the big picture, the whole body of work.. for most of the year and his career JR has been a moron.. a few games don't change that.. if phil is smart, and lets be clear, we know he is a GREAT coach, but we know nothing about him as an exec....but if he is smart, he will take an enema to this team... no one should be spared!!!!!

Still this is a positive for the Knicks What Phil needs to do is get JR to keep off Twitter and keep his head in his well-paying job.

Phil can try to "Zenitize him as he has rehabilitated others before.

But Phil won't be the coach.

PHil can give him books, but does JR even want to reach a higher plane? I think if you can grow within all things around you will also grow.
We talking about a man who has a tattoo on his neck of a "Transformer".

Rodman was very intense on the court and had come from nowhere to earn his spot in the NBA. JR was a star player in high school with incredible talent in my opinion has taken for granted. JR is about a good time from what I have read over the years. While Rodman was a clown off the court he boasts 5 rings and is a HOF player. If JR could find a focus I wonder if he could be consistent which I think is all star talent.

I think Woodson as done a decent job in helping him but there is really so much a coach can do unless the light goes off in JR's head and he WANTS IT BAD!!!!
