Maybe he is just looking for a coach that can teach the triangle but wants to be the one that motivates the players and makes the real decisions.

Maybe he is really gonna be the coach without doing the daily babysitting.

He certainly does not want a coach like a van gundy who will have their own philosophy.

This is gonna be interesting and a maybe a bit unprecedented.

so here is what phil is thinking ....

Bleacher report has really gotten some name guys with Bucher, Beck, and Zwerling. Lue sounds like he is just another name to consider because of his past and because he is coaching.

This is writer speculation.

It's still interesting. What coaches out there fits the criteria? Is gotta be someone who would be open to interference from Phil. Phil isn't going to be a tyrant but i expect him to give his input. I'm very anxious about it. I am so sick of looking at Mike Woodson.

atleast lue has been an assistant coach for a few years now. i'd much rather the team hire kerr with lue as an assistant.

I'd rather go the other way around and have the guy with bench experience be the head guy and bring on the Kerr as an assistant.

Lue's been an assistant coach for several years now with Doc Rivers (I think). I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss him if that were the case.

I wouldn't be surprised. Phil has lobbied to coach only home games when he was with the Lakers. I wouldn't be surprised if he was only looking for a sergeant to his lieutenant.

Truth be told, I am not opposed to that at all. Him effectively mentoring our longer-term coach is something that would benefit all parties.

I think the best thing for this organization is for Phil to be pulling all the strings from behind the curtain. It's what we want from him. It's why he's making $12mil per. Not to go fishing and hiking in Montana

technology makes it a good bit easier for someone like phil jackson to delegate responsibility and remain connected with the roster. as to in-game adjustments, wasn't jackson known for his lassaiz-faire approach-- and didn't jackson learn the lassaiz-faire approach from his mentor red holzman?

i would like to believe that he is going to be hands-on and physically present just enough so that his coaching staff and roster are on the same page.

knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%

Similar to the relationship between Riley-Spoestra early on. You think Riley just sat back in his GM office when he saw something he didn't like in the team?

He's won 11 championships when his only living competition won 4. If anyone can do it, it would be Phil.

Now Tyronn Lue on the radar as coach???...great..
