People, lighten up. Things are about to be downright San Antonio Spurs-like in Knicks-land.

The worst that can happen, even if Melo walks (according to Chris Broussard) is that he frees up a chunk of additional cash for the 2015 free agent class. This season and next, wins and losses are irrelevant. As a matter of fact, the more losses - the batter. It just doesn't matter. Trades are meaningless and Game Picker is an exercise better replaced by having a dozen donuts and watching The Bourne Identity.

You wanna put together a serious roster to challenge for a championship? We gotta be sinkin.' Why?

Amare, Bargnani, JR Smith and everyone else making significant money, come off the books. Finished. The accountants get a brand new ledger and the salary cap resets back to zero. Imagine the freedom and sheer enjoyment of building an NBA roster with unlimited chedda and a few first round picks. Pandemonium.

We gotta chill. Kick back. Pu out collective feet on the coffe table and pop open our favorite adult beverage. We just gotta wait for a season and a half. Piece of cake.

Tank for 2015.

If we get the first pick next yr, it will be a foregone conclusion that the Draft will be awful and we will end up with some waste of life like Bargs or the Candy Man. Cleveland set the bar high this year for horrendous picks but if anybody can find a way to beat that, it's the Knicks.

SwishAndDish13 - you funny. However, you must have an alternative solution that tops The Answer Man's 2015 Tank Strategy.

Mills is stunt man. By the time 2015 rolls around, Allan Houston will be on the clock.

Q. alwaysaknick: Did we tank last summer?

A. Excellent question. No we did not.

We were learning the true meaning of "ball don't lie" and thinking we could sneak a playoff series from the more talented Pacers. Hey, as Kurtis Blow taught us, "those are the breaks."

No, we are talking full frontal tankology here. No more kvetching over wins or losses. We simply enjoy the fact that in 2015, compared with the current roster, the New York Knicks will be completely unrecognizable.

Change is good. The revolution will be televised.

It is just out of our control, unless the ticket buyers stop doing what they're doing. As we know, this lovely Knicks is still the most valuable NBA team.

but why tank? i understand getting under the cap and letting the contracts expire in 2015. but i dont see the upside of tanking...especially with no draft picks
Knicks should be improved: win about 40 games and maybe sneak into the playoffs. Melo, Rose and even Noah will have some nice moments however this team should be about PORZINGUS. the sooner they make him the primary player, the better

Let things just play out, Dolan hears the cries of the fans in his front row seat. Woodson hears the plea's of fans screaming for the yoots on his bench.

The players hear nonsense in the huddles and used car salesmen talk in the locker rooom.

Mentally the players and drained, and lack confidence when it counts.

JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

Losing is familiar now. Not familiar like friendly, familiar like routine. Like a commute to work. We sit down, we watch the Knicks march grimly into the abyss, then we get up and resume baking scones or whatever it is we do when we're not watching the Knicks embarrass themselves. I think our thresholds for feeling anything of any valence have been set pretty high at this point. And when the Knicks returned from a week-long hiatus by picking up that grim march as if they'd never stopped, it felt comfortable.

- Seth Rosenthal

CallingYouNed - there is no such thing as upside. The best features of tanking are that it clears the air of false nightly expectations. It allows we vested fans to breathe, relax and enjoy the spring without any post game depression, pre game sadness or feelings of abandonment from Tina Cervasio.

In the immortal words of legendary NY football Giants Assistant Coach, Vince Lombardi, "Tanking isn't everything, it is the only thing."

Really.

You have a better (reality based) solution?

Panos - of course the Knicks are not tanking. They are playing as well as they can with what they have.

Tanking is a season and a half state of mind that sets a clear goal, clears the decks and deodorizes the locker room.

Tanking is a beautiful thing.

2015 here we come.

EnySpree - calm down

You cannot simply "dump" guys now. You let it play out with the calm reassurance that by 2015 things will be dramatically different. You put aside all the anger over ownership, coaching, roster moves that will never be made and dance team members that have yet to attend tryouts. You do like Clyde do. You put on your favorite cow skin jacket and kick back.

You let go of worrying about things you cannot control and you count the days until next seasons trade deadline when the fun starts.
