And if Melo walks we have a real shot at winning the lottery. Let's start a letter writing campaign to Embiid encouraging him to stay in school =D

Have to wonder if the Knicks make a couple of small moves that payoff big. If they get a second rounder for udrih do they try to move it to get Pierre Jackson? Or do they keep the pick and sign bobby brown. One guy scored 74 points in a game in china and the other scored 58 in the d league.
I'm tired,I'm tired, I'm so tired right now......Kristaps Porzingis 1/3/18

They need to make a move to get the PG that will run alongside Melo the next four years..They needed to do this now...Use Chandler, Chump or whoever to get it done...They also need another big time scorer which can wait until 2015 when Amare rolls off the books....

this is why i think getting some young assets/picks is good because next year will probably be more of the same. Develop young talent and then add free agents in 2015. So basically its only a 1 year rebuild when we are gonna be bad anyway but at least it helps our long term future

This is why I and crying about getting trying to get under the cap for this coming off season. We need to be all we can to improve this roster. If it's too build around Melo or Draft it's the same thing

Same team?
Never underestimate Dolan's ability to take back big contracts in exchange for picks!

I think the real question with this group is can they stay healthy? And I think for many of them, the answer is no.

Same group next year - assuming Melo doesn't go anywhere.

Can Amar'e stay healthy an entire year, and be consistently productive as he's shown at times this year?

No. I highly doubt it. Amar'e's mid range game has been showing signs, and even without the explosive athleticism, that part of his game could be a real weapon.

Chandler - doubt he can stay healthy, and even if he gave you 82 games, that isn't enough with where his performance is likely to be.

JR Smith - too much of a head case, even when healthy, and too inconsistent

Felton- yea right!

The chance your key vets will stay healthy next year- Zero.

I think the biggest worry I have is we keep Melo and get a new coach who manages to improve our performance just enough to make the play offs and miss out on adding an impact player through the draft.

Lol, it's hard for me to believe that Rudy Gay won't somehow make his way to this team in the near future.

Now the joy of my world is in Zion How beautiful if nothing more Than to wait at Zion's door I've never been in love like this before Now let me pray to keep you from The perils that will surely come

I actually would welcome a Rudy Gay trade. Melo and Rudy as the 3/4 is a perfect balance.

Still need that point guard no matter what we do

The player tracking data has Rudy Gay as the least efficient player in the league! He's just a flashy but awful player.

Going buy this season that might be true since he had been dogging it in Toronto.

Memphis fans and teammates probably wish they had him back tho

My issue with that is you generally should never trade bigs for smalls. Tyson may not be playing well but on the right team he is a huge asset. What can he really do for us when we have the worst backcourt in the league?

More importantly - how do we replace him? Amare? Tyler? I don't think that's a long term solution. No doubt we need a PG but I would move Shumpery before I would move Tyson for a PG. It's not like we are going after Chris Paul so it shouldn't take gutting out team and draft picks to get someone decent.

Well Memphis got much better once he left too. (Obviously it went downhill when Gasol kept getting injured but that's separate.) His advanced stats are bad and he has a bad track record.

I'm not a Rudy Gay fan but to be fair to him his numbers in Sac town has been good. COntract play makes me weary and his lack of ability to shoot the ball from three really scares me off.

29 games? That's not very meaningful. If his WS in the best stretch of his life is .128, that's pretty bad. The offensive and defensive ratings indicate that he's giving up almost as much as he scores. I'd interpret those numbers as meaning that when he goes on a once-in-a-lifetime tear, he actually is an average NBA player.

I don't think that premise applies to today's game as much as it did about 10 years ago...They problem is that Chandler's salary occupies a space needed for a better player in today's salary structure...If Melo is staying, we need a legit PG at Chandler's salary to involve the rest of the team...We also need another scorer to take pressure of Melo...We don't have room for Chandler or Amare...
