It’s not uncommon to begin with one problem and discover another. Or in the Knicks’ case, another and then another and then another. Between the at-times selfish play of Anthony, the physical deterioration of Amar’e Stoudemire, the J.R. Smith never-ending circus, the poor roster moves and managerial decisions, player-coach feuds and everything that has plagued the Knicks since Anthony’s arrival, would anybody blink if he left New York?

Will you miss Melo?

Will be very happy if he will be gone anyhow.
Will be nice to get something for him but I do not keep my hopes high.
Most likely Dolan will wont to keep Melo at all costs.
So it is up to Melo to get big $$$ in NY or have winning and fun elsewhere.
What he will take - anyone's guess...

he might not get an offer that is suitable from another team? Whatever the max is another team can offer him- he might not get it.

We might be stuck with each other!

The general feeling among NBA players and coaches is that Anthony will walk, even if it means leaving $30 million on the table. LeBron James took less money to secure a championship future in Miami and Anthony has already been quoted this season as saying that James was "smart" to make such a move.

Yeah, if we don't get something of proportional value for him. I think someone would be an idiot though for celebrating him leaving as a free agent, without us being properly compensated. Melo's one of the best in the league.

we have been a mess since ewing, this has nothing to do with melo, its the lame ass cast they put around melo..guys that don't take there job serious, and don't put in the work to be the best, and a lame ass coach who can't draw up nothing more then a iso base line or post play..

Think of what it felt like to allow Lin to walk for zero compensation

And multiply that by two

In retrospect I regret not keeping Lin but we won 54 games without him last year and felton did a hell of a job. If the team was a bit more long term oriented one can say Lin had more upside and eventually would be a better player. Right now, I would rather have Lin and while no star I think he proved he could hold his own on the court and in the spotlight that is the "Mecca".

The fact we did not give away an unprotected draft pick, or some other appreciated asset to get him makes his lose accptable.

But, Losing melo for nothing will hurt. If our pick this year turns to a lottery pick, that will hurt.

Did Dolan get Bargs in hope that it was more important to not look this bad? Did he fire grunwald because Glen was not on board?

Someone has to write the book of Dolan's ineptitude during his reign.

Then multiply that heartache by four and that's what you get by losing Melo for nothing. We got Lin for nothing. For Melo, we gave up every asset we had at the time and this time around, would be left with nothing.

If Melo is still here after the trade deadline then we will feel this heartache. We are not getting out of this hole with this current roster or with a band aid approach. Melo will be gone.

Excellent point nardDog. The math had to be adjusted.

Carmelo playing Iron Man minutes only abbreviates his long term prospects.

At 30 years old, how many prime years does he have in the tank?

Without Melo, would Knicks fans purchase tickets, gear and cable packages?

i would be more than ok with melo leaving, but i would sure hope mills would try to trade him and get lots of picks in return.

Cartman - you are kidding yourself if you think this is about Steve Mills doing a deal.

Jim Dolan will need to man up and take responsibility for the collateral damage of the Melo mega deal, that he forced (and eventually lost) Walsh on.

Cartman - Dolan will be the focus of media questions on any Melo deal. He will also need to address stake holders.

Donnie Walsh has left the building.
