That'd be a sweet backcourt, Franchise and Starbury.

I heard the Rockets are trying to swing Francis for Brand, straight up, so they can have a pretty dominant PF/C combo for the next 10 years. Not a bad idea.

There is absolutely 0 chance of this happening.

this would increase our teams athletiscm and give us a real attacking backcourt that could not be double teamed. If we were able to pull Steve Jackson out of the MLE race, we would be a much more active team and could come off the bench with H2O playing 25 minutes. Maurice taylor is a much more active bigger athletic 4 than KT and 5 years younger. I dont know if we have any real chance to put quality at every position in one year, I dont think its going to happen just because we went through so much trading already. But that would put us at

Marbury 27-28 years old Hardaway Williams
Francis 26-27 years old Houston
Jackson 25-26 years old
Taylor 27-28 years old Sweetney
Nazr 26-27 years old Baker Deke

thats a pretty good package for houston. take deep thought into that. KT is the tough guy who can really shoot that 12 footer and rbeound+ defend. he should eb able to play very well with yao. TT is an upgrade for them at SF so they can move Jim Jackson back to 2 and Cutino Mobley to 1. Van Gundy hates Steve Francis, but steve francis at the 2 playing with marbury makes sense for us. Plus its a nice financial deal for Houston down the line. who knows?

I think this is a fantastic idea. I also think signing Stephen Jackson for the MLE is a fantastic idea.

I would love for this deal to go down. But I don't think JVG wants KT and believe it or not KT is not a tough guy. To use TT word he is fugazy. And they got a real good thing going with Jim Jackson at the sf position. I would take him over TT who himself is a fugazy. If I'm the Rockets I'm looking for a star in return. Brand or someone of that calibur.

also the fact of the matter whether you want to admit it or not, but TT is just a terrible laughingstock throughout the league now. he will never ever get a call and players who clown him and play dirty against him will never get called for it. he damaged himself so badly by A) calling out Kenyon, who is five times the player he is, despite the fact that it was Collins who hurt him and B) saying anything at all and then not playing and then continuing to talk and continuing to not play.

I agree that its disgraceful that KT didn't bang out Collins afterwards, TT did to his own reputation and the Knicks organization what those troops who tortured Iraqis on camera did to the US occupation.

No way Zeke stands for this, so like ShanDONE, TT has to be traded this offseason.

What are you talking about? TT is not a laughingstock throughout the league. What survey did you take? The guy was legitimately hurt, so sue him. He never said Kmart couldn't play, only that his tough guy image was fake, which may or may not be true. How many fights did any of us see with any of these guys? Who knows who is a brawler or pretender. So he looks tough. So do a lot of boxers before they hit their head on the canvas. TT can play and this will be proven out next year with a full year together with Marbury.
We could be the Dallas Mavs of the East.

I like the deal talent wise however, we are much worse defensively and would need to use the MLE on a big man in my opinion rather than Stephen Jackson.

Defense - Neither Marbury nor Francis are above average defenders. Marbury would be forced to guard bigger opponents night in and night out and it would not only take a toll on his offense but bigger players could take him downlow and also shoot over him. All the great 2's in the league, especially in the East, would feast on Marbury. Secondly, I don't know if he improved under JVG but Mo Taylor has never been a good defender. We're giving up KT, our best defender for a poor to avg guy and we still have no shotblocker and losing perimeter defense. Reminds me too much of the Mavs.

I guess we could put Frank Will on the block for a big man but after this trade we would have...

Steph, Frank, Moochie
Francis, Houston, Anderson
Stephen Jackson, Penny

4 guys would require big mins and that would leave none for Frank, Moochie, Penny, and Shandon...

We need to figure out a way to buy out Shandon!

we can say a lot of things this a lot of things that, but the bottom line is there is no way we are going to be able to put each piece we need on the team next year. Having Steve Francis and Marbury on the same team would be at a minimum very entertaining and very hard to match up with. If we were bad, we could end up in a position in next year draft to get that big man.

After those moves I would then send Nazr and the expiring contratcs and a second rounder for Antonio Davis and Tyson Chandler.

I don't think that trade is a good idea. Word is that Steph and Franchise don't really like each other anyway.

I do, however, think that they should sign Stephen Jackson. Signing Stephen makes sense for so many reasons. He is a perfect insurance policy for either Tim or Allan. He can score from the outside, defend the perimeter, and he seems like the energetic type of athlete that Isiah likes.

But they need to add an athletic four with S Jax. Kurt is old and not athletic enough to keep up with Kmart, the Wallaces, the Oneals, and can't run with Odom. (Speaking of which, how great does Miami look right now?)

I don't think there's a four out there for the MLE. And any thought of Dampier or Sheed for the MLE is RIDICULOUS. We have to stop thinking that there will be another Steph type give away trade, or even a Spree give away. The best way to upgrade the four is through a trade of Kurt and using Frank now while we can.

My list:

1) Stromile (trade KT and Frank)
2) Drew Gooden (Kt and Frank)
3) Tyson Chandler (probably have to take Eddie Robinson or A. Davis to make it work)

Stromile is a defensive pressence and super athlete. He lacks only consistency. Same with Tyson (as long as those back problems are minor). Drew would be a fantastic offensive addition. The only reason his numbers were down was some bizarre adherence to playing Juwan over Drew. Must be the sun.

But the first part of any plan has to involve Stephen Jackson. They aren't that far away, and Stephen gets them a lot closer. Bottom line: they can make do with Kurt, Sweets and Vin at PF, but they NEED a swingman. NEED. Sign Stephen Jackson, then upgrade the Four.

Jackson was good enough to make Atlanta but I dont think he's ready for NY. Houston still has some good trades left after the Spoon/moochie deal, for example, Cutt Mobley, Eric Piatkowski and Kelvin Cato for H20 and first round draft pick

What I question about Jackson, is Jackson leaving a bonafide playoff
team......just so he can open up some eyes while playing in Atlanta, so he can get paid in NY?

Nah....

I did think of it before....then I woke up.

Steve Francis is not a Van Gundy point guard. He wants to control the game not watch a guy dribble up his clock. I definately could see Francis getting traded.

About Brand....I think that guy is gonna be traded to Dallas for Walker....for that eventual cap relief....which the Knicks could match with Mutombo and Othella....
