I'm liking him a lot. This is how I envisioned Melo. I have to give him props for the change in his game. His trust in his teammates is noticeable. The assists are up and his efficiency is much better. I hope this type of play continues. For rest of the year and not just a month or two.

The biggest change is that he's increased his rebounds and decreased his turnovers. The rest is about the same but those two changes definitely help.

Yep. He still goes one on one A LOT but his play is has still been great.

Melo brings his A game every night. That is indisputable.

What we need are Felton's 14 assists every night.

Melo going one on one isn't a problem. Last night proves it. He roasted the greatest defender in the game. Miami had LeBron (or Wade) on him one on one all night. The problem comes when Melo tries to take on double and triple teams.

It might not be pretty, but I'd let Melo shoot every time if he wasn't getting double teamed. When he makes quick decisions and only has one defender on him, hes unstoppable.

I agree with you. Lately he has been passing much better to rotate the ball out of double teams. Better ball movement from Melo and he is looking to set his teammates up more and more which is what I really like. And of course his shooting it more efficiently and getting better looks.

I thought he was pretty awsome last year also. He and MDA didnt work. Once that situation dissolved Melo has been a top 10 player for the Knicks, hands down. Only donkeys and tfk cant see that

I've been saying for a while now, if Melo were able to avg 5 assists a game, it would completely change the chemistry of this team MUCH MUCH more than the difference of 6 points would indicate. Gotta get that ball moving!

that's what doomed the Knicks in the playoffs and for the first ~30 games this year. Before that the Knicks were one of the better teams in the L

Making it sound like this is the first time he's played like this. The big difference was that his teammates are starting to step up. Wasn't trying to do it all. He has to take the blame for trying to do too much at times but so do Melo's teammates for not doing their share, too many of them anyway.

I think we have been seeing less FORCE situations for Melo and he has been WILLINGLY moving the ball much more
This not only creates trusts and builds confidence for his team mates but also allows Melo to conserve his stamina/energy to use in other areas or/and be able to perform in the 4th quarter/final minutes when needed

However, for his next contract under the new CBA, he is not worth 20million + to me

I think 15m per year is more than fair at 5 years extension (no raise) given his age and inabilities
If he is serious about winning in NYK, he shouldn't opt out this summer, in 2015 he should take a 1 year pay cut, in which he can opt out the following year,

Lets say 10m per year for 5 years and player option in 2016 and 2017
Then go on some serious recruitment process, to add 1-2 STAR players, or/and 1 STAR and a few quality players and role players
Then after I don't care if Dolan wants to pay him 25m per year for 5 years but that is the only way I can see having any shot at competing and keeping Melo at the same time

Melo has shown that he's a willing passer when his teammates aren't bricking left and right. Like I said, sometimes he gives up on them too soon, but I believe that its a false narrative that all he had to do is pass the ball for his teammates to do their share. They have to move without the ball, cut, set screens, picks, do all the things that almost every other team in this league does nightly. Until recently we did this less than almost anyone else and the record reflected it.

Not to mention, he played solid D on LJ last night. I was actually impressed by his hustle.
