I think we have been seeing less FORCE situations for Melo and he has been WILLINGLY moving the ball much more
This not only creates trusts and builds confidence for his team mates but also allows Melo to conserve his stamina/energy to use in other areas or/and be able to perform in the 4th quarter/final minutes when needed
However, for his next contract under the new CBA, he is not worth 20million + to me
I think 15m per year is more than fair at 5 years extension (no raise) given his age and inabilities
If he is serious about winning in NYK, he shouldn't opt out this summer, in 2015 he should take a 1 year pay cut, in which he can opt out the following year,
Lets say 10m per year for 5 years and player option in 2016 and 2017
Then go on some serious recruitment process, to add 1-2 STAR players, or/and 1 STAR and a few quality players and role players
Then after I don't care if Dolan wants to pay him 25m per year for 5 years but that is the only way I can see having any shot at competing and keeping Melo at the same time
