Felton to fans: Stay positive

Raymond Felton's heard the "Fire Woodson" chants at Knicks home games. He's heard the throaty boos from the MSG faithful when the Knicks struggle.

But the point guard has a request for Knicks fans -- stay positive. Please.

"All we're trying to do is stay positive. That's what we're trying to explain to the fans, to the media, that all the negativity, the booing, the 'get rid of Woody, the trade this guy, trade that guy.' Like, c'mon man, just ride with us," Felton said at his second annual holiday party, where he provided gifts and a basketball clinic to 100 local children at Basketball City.

"Last year when we were doing well, we were winning all these games everybody was riding with us. Ride with us now, when we're in our tough times. Because everything is not always perfect."

That may be tough for a long-suffering fan base that came into the season with high expectations for the team.

But Felton is optimistic that he can help the Knicks climb out of the 8-17 hole they've dug.

"We had a rough two months but we have a long season, we have a lot of time to make up. We started off slow but we're trying to finish strong,"
he said.

Felton has struggled this season while dealing with hamstring and hip injuries. He hopes to return to the court on Monday with the hamstring issue -- which has plagued him since the preseason -- behind him.

Felton's averaging 10.3 points and 5.2 assists while shooting 39 percent from the field this year. Last season, he scored 13.9 points per game on 43 percent shooting. He's also shooting just 28 percent from beyond the arc this season. Last year, he shot 36 percent.

Clearly, the hamstring and hip injuries have impacted his performance. Though he doesn't like to cite the injury as a factor in his play. "I'm not making excuses. There's been plenty of games where I've been disgusted with myself and I've been disgusted with the way we've performed so by all means I'm not making no excuses for nobody … but at the end of the day we are human beings."

"... We just want everybody to still just be behind us, be positive with us because that's what we need right now. When we're down we don't want extra negativity or extra stuff coming in to keep us down. We want things to lift us up. So that's my biggest thing right now: I'm staying positive, my team is staying positive so we're just trying to get everybody else to stay positive with us."

Ride with us. Gtfoh.....everyone has been on his side since his first stint with the knicks. He sucks right now so we need to get better not sit and wait for Felton to get comfortable. I personally can't deal with this anymore. And I was a huge felton supporter. I was content with saying the dude just doesn't have it we need to find a better alternative. Now I am mad as hell and want this dude outta here.

I can't watch this garbage. I feel like every single fan should feel like me. Get these bums outta here right now. This is worse than anything we've seen and we have sucked as a franchise for over 10 years.
