and start over with just Carmelo. The status quo is devastating--its going to lead to Carmelo leaving and the Knicks getting no compensation. the team as composed is brutal getting Tyson back will not help rebuild the backcourt it will not help Amare and Martin play 80 games it will not help Bargs from inconsistency it will not help Shumpert or JR smith play consistent where is Steve Mills after 20 games whats thye story give us a feedback on what you see? Whats the plan--to win 20 games and let Melo walk?

The Knicks are in no way in any competent hands to be making deals. Your going to be deal trash for trash at this point. Beside do you honestly trust NYK management to make a good deal? Steve Mills, this guy is the same guy that sent the Knicks in a spiral the first time around.

We have no managerial leadership. Our owner has no basketball acumen and is more interested in playing a jazz club while the Knicks lose and our GM is the same man who was the President of the Knicks when they won 20 games a year--of which we are doing again. YES its time to panic why because there is NO plan. If in doubt sell and sit back---get rid of everything we can right now

Even if we start over with just Melo how much will he be making? Because if we're wasting ~$25M of the cap on him then there's no point.

I have been in the trade melo for assets and rebuild camp. This is the one argument that has given me pause. I can't remember a deal in the last few years where we obviously won the deal without overpaying in some fashion. It really does seem that we lose every single trade we do.

I think you said it when you said the problem is with management. Once Grunwald was fired the bottom dropped out. Who decided to keep Chris Smith? Who decided to play Amare 10 minutes every other night no matter how many times he turned over the ball or got beat on defense? Who decided that KMart couldn't play every other night and that his minutes had to be under 20 when Tyson was out? I think the only move Tyson was able to pull was keeping Murry.

he should be the first to go! blame all of the other player all they want, the type of talent we have here now is a result from that dumb ass trade...

I disagree but the trade was a result of the owner buying into a clearing out of everything to make a run at two stars in 2010.

Right now it would be wise to not make panic moves. this team is out of it play the season out. See what Melo decides if he leaves take the cap room bring back Woody for another year and pray we suck bad enough to get a top pick to build around. 2015 brings more cap space hopefully by that time a basketball knowledgeable GM is in place to get Free Agents. Like Briggs said there is no plan and when there is no plan at the moment only bad things could happen for this organization. A lot of band aid moves that might kill cap space is almost inevitable with the Knicks.

we do not have to make stupid moves....the Knicks do have to do something.

there needs to be a plan though....

right now they need to relieve Felton, Shump and Amare of their duties and find them a new home....or banish them

Jeremy Tyler needs to come up and we need to get Torre Murry out there.

Beno and Metta for 2nd round picks....

simple moves....clean up the locker room

Just get a decent young PG who has good passing instincts scores and defends.

The sky is falling, the sky is falling.

I want to hold pat, fellas...reassess when Tyson comes back. I definitely think Woody's got to go. He just plain sucks, has no plan, in over his head. But we need to see if Melo is serious about making the NYK a contender by structuring his deal such that its focus is contention more than maximizing his earnings. If he says "show me the money" then we tell him to take a hike.

However, I think we would want to trade him for picks and expirings at least. No sense letting him go for nothing. Expiring deals come off the books just the same, and picks could be valuable if we get lucky.

This was the plan all along. This team will look much different by 2015 or sooner. Only players I expect to still be with the team in 2 years are Melo, THjr, chandler, and likely the smiths.

That's a problem. Bad contracts and an Chandler\Melo with many miles.
