I see a lot of trade proposals on this board, almost none have him involved. Is it that he's untouchable..

If you had to let shump or jr go, which one would you pick?

jr's veteran play and streaky shooting or shumps inconsistent (will he ever amount to more than a 6th man) play..

He's not untouchable, he's immovable. I'd pay for someone to take him away.

He's not immovable his contact isn't bad. His ****ty personality and inconsistent numbers make it harder though.

His deal is reasonable and is one of the only ones that isn't a rookie deal, vet mini , or a max deal. He may have to be included in a deal just to make numbers work.

What are we going to get in return?

JR is a fool but he is coming back from knee surgery. Plus he doesnt make that much. He just needs to be used exclusively and a 6th man.

In all honesty, Jr is the type of player you can love one minute and hate the next.

You hate the fact that he hangs out too much and he's erratic at times, but you love it when he's taking it to the hole and draining 3's from everywhere. He's a people person and (im not sure why he's always playing with the kids during half time @ MSG instead of in the locker room) and he does a lot for the community..

I still believe shump can at least get to sprewells level because he plays with a lot of passion, he just seems dumb as rocks and I'm not sure his IQ will ever match he's potential.

Some how when you refer to the knicks assets you never here JR's name, despite his reasonable contract and his skills, it makes me wonder!!

He's the coaches favorite player and we went through the trouble of giving his brother a contract just so he'd sign with the team. Unless he pisses off Dolan, he's untouchable.
Knicksfan: Hypocrite league that fines players after the game for flopping but in the game and with obvious flopping they call the fouls.

totally disagree. If I was Woody I would feel pretty chapped about the playoffs last year followed by failing a 3rd piss test that got him suspended.

But your not Woody. it seems Woody has a long relationship with JR and his family. Wouldn't be surprised if Woody was behind the signing of Cris Smith.

Besides what team is going to trust JR out there to take him off the Knicks hands.

Dolan sees him as loyal because he took less to sign with us twice- therefore, he's a knick for life.

I don't mind him as a sixth man, problem is as others have said, we're reliant on him to be the 2nd scorer.

Inexplicably JR Smith is so revered by the Knicks that we signed his brother to a guaranteed contract even though by all accounts he is not even a D League level talent, looked the other way after he hid a knee injury before signing a long term contract, and failed so many piss tests for weed that he actually got suspended for it when the NBA drug policy as it pertains to marijuana is extremely lenient.

So yes, he is untouchable for the same inexplicable reasons that guys like Isaiah were "untouchable" and players like Allan Houston were favored so highly he was handed a 100 million contract when not one other team in the league would pay him even close to that amount. The Dolan run Knicks make so many mind boggling decisions and are so schizophrenic with who is on the "ish" list and who is on the "untouchable" list that its beyond the point where any intelligent deductions can be made.

He's Dolan and Isiah's favorite player, ever since he twitted about asking a girl if she wanted the pipe!

JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.
