Should we be rooting for the Knicks to lose as many games as possible this year?

- We're not making the playoffs and if somehow we sneak in as a 7th or 8th seed, we'll be swept in the first round.

- The only way Dolan will even consider shaking things up is if things go really bad and the fans stop coming to the games. The team is making a fortune and that's all that matters to him.

- I'm torn on whether or not I want to re-sign Melo, but an awful season will at least put the front office and the delusional members of our fanbase on notice that THE NEW YORK KNICKS WILL NEVER WIN A CHAMPIONSHIP WITH CARMELO ANTHONY AS THEIR BEST PLAYER.

I would be 100% behind going into full rebuilding mode and letting go of Melo, but thanks to our awful front office that's not a possibility since we've traded away so many 1st rounders already. The best thing that could happen right now is for us to continue to be the laughing stock of the NBA for the rest of the season so the front office realizes they need to make as many changes as possible and do what's needed to bring in a true superstar next to Melo.

No. Also, the season is 13 games old and the Knicks are missing their starting center and starting point guard. They will make the playoffs and may win the atlantic. Also, when Dolan makes changes they generally suck. Best for him to forget about the team for awhile.

How does a fan root against their team? Seems off to me, even though I understand the logic behind tanking for draft odds. But spiteful tanking? Nah.

Knicksfan: Hypocrite league that fines players after the game for flopping but in the game and with obvious flopping they call the fouls.

Just can't root for my team to lose. Not at this point in the season. If we were losing and only needed to lose one game in order to get the most Ping Pong balls and we actually had our pick and a great player was available... yeah maybe then it makes the most sense to want your team to lose.

It's way too early in the season to even think about that. For one thing this team is very likely to get healthy and actually start winning games. It's not a team that I can see being a bottom feeder when fully healthy. Some of these losses were actually pretty close games. I can see them having won a few of them with a healthy Tyson and Felton.

I have become indifferent since Championship glory is not the goal and with no pick. You don't ever want to root for your team to lose when a lottery pick isn't involved. Yet I see what fans are thinking only way to get change and maybe by accident strike gold is hope they lose so the team continually attempts to get right.

full rebuild mode.. trade the most valauable pieces you have now and try to get some picks back.. that would be a start..

Who do they have to trade? I'm 100% with you but no one on our team has value.

Felton is a mediocre at best PG. He's not a starter on almost every team in the league.

Bargnani is one of those players who is absolutely untradable unless the Knicks are interested.

J.R. is on a good contract, but no one was interested in him this offseason.

You'd have to give up picks to move Amar'e, not the other way around.

Our only piece is Shumpert and he's not as coveted as some Knick fans think.

It's short-term rooting against but long-term rooting for.
You could argue that rooting for the continuation of our mediocre roster is really rooting against the team.

If you propose this next year when the team has its pick and cap space coming up maybe I could get behind it. There is no benefit to rooting for losses now. Similar to when D'Antoni had the 11-12 team headed towards the lottery when Houston had the pick, there is no reason to root for losing. Also, what has the owner done that makes you think he will make positive changes?

Without a draft pick and considering our owner, its foolish to root for losses.

Considering our coach, roster and start, its also foolish to root for wins.

So be like me and dont give an ish, because those players wearing orange and blue sure dont give a fudge about New York.

Ok I might be coming around to this root for our team to lose thing. My logic behind this is if we can get the nuggets 1 of the top 3 prospects then it will force Dolan to see how dumb it is to continually trade our drafts picks. The amount of blowback we will get for that melo trade will be humongous. I can take that for the small chance that it will stop Dolan from giving away all our draft picks.

Rooting against the Knicks to prove a point is stupid. It was stupid not to protect the pick but you still make the trade if its a lottery pick. Last season proved that along. One small sample size without your starting center to justify why something didn't work is just a knee jerk reaction that Knicks fans are famous for.

The draft pick has no relevance. Dolan would just trade it for an overrated, injury-prone veteran.
If Mills is going to actually make the top metrics his primary use for evaluating players, then that's a good change and I'd root for it to work well.

There is no way I can root for this team to lose. There is way too much at stake including the fact that we do not have a draft pick this year and our losses will once again benefit another team.

This team needs to get it together.

The lost draft pick is a sunk cost. It's over. Denver could get the 1st or the 30th pick and wouldn't change our roster. The higher the pick, the more powerful a statement it would make to Dolan to change course though.

Apparently the picks we gave up in the Curry trade that amounted to Noah and Aldridge wasn't enough to teach Dolan. Maybe this lottery pick we threw in the Melo deal will. I agree the higher the pick the worst the embarrassment will be

No doubt - it's a long shot but it's our only shot
