He was a into Linsanity like the rest of us. He went the other way when people started saying Melo should return from injury and try to fit in. Stephen took offense to that and was supposedly in touch with Melos people and he said that it would have to be the other way around. Lin would have to adapt to Melo the proven superstar. Stephen went on to incessantly bash Lin from there on out on the the station that is the home of the New York Knicks which I'm sure Dolan tunes into and the rest is history. He also killed him for not playing in the playoffs when he had torn his meniscus

The difference with the adapting, is that Lin is the PG. Melo can score in so many ways. What adapting does anyone need to do for Melo? Cover him on the defensive end? Seriously, it is the PG's job to run the team, not to just give the ball to an ISO player.

Most of us knew Lin was the best PG on the team, definitely the most intelligent player, and instead of him we got the Geriatric bunch, Felton, etc.

Letting Lin go devastated me to the point where I couldn't root for the team the first month or two of the season last year. It's up there with the Houston trade and amnestying Billups as some of the worst front office moves by any NBA team in recent memory.

knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%

That was like the entire duration of our best stretch that season (I thought it was better than the run we had at the end of the season).

Knicksfan: Hypocrite league that fines players after the game for flopping but in the game and with obvious flopping they call the fouls.

Yeah, I meant in recent memory. We could have a field day if we went back to the Isiah era. Although I'd argue the organization is now in the same place they were in 2008-2009.

SAS is confounding. At times, he comes off so rational, mature, and insightful.
Other times, he comes off like a shill for his friends/key sources, Melo at the top of that list.

As i recall, he knocked Lin - all the time, and most certainly, as other posters noted, in needing to be subordinate to Melo.

here is the thing that really steams me about what SAS said today- he said he didn't mind losing Lin because he thought Lin was a couple years away from being able to contribute meaningfully and we had Felton. Regardless of whether Felton was performing this year - why give up on an asset that might take a year or two to develop.

He sure does sound like he is toeing the company line.

It was exciting because the whole D'Antoni era was a nightmare for me. Also, my wife started watching again but the run at the end of the season under Woodson was the best for me. We were traveling some that spring, listening to the games on the radio and planning stops so that we could see the second half of those playoff games.

I did like the end of the season run but it was just nice seeing how the Knicks came out at the beginning of last season when everyone (me included unfortunately) counted them out. Damn injuries...

I am a huge Lin fan but SASs analysis of Lin was on point, albeit he went hard.

I hope we can get Lin back.
