Trade ideas:

-Tyson for Ben Gordon and a pick for the salary dump

-djsunyc idea to trade Melo to the Bulls for deng and a pick

-Amare to Boston for Wallace and Hump to dump half that salary

-Nash and Jordan Hill and a pick for Bargnani.... Nash retires, Hill expires

Mega dump and possibly 3 picks...

are you not entertained?

Disagree with the Boston trade. We shouldn't be taking back any longer term salary unless someone blows us away with an offer.

Melo would have to agree to an extension for the bulls to give up a high draft pick. Sacrifice the pick for 3/4 of a melo season and watch him walk? I like the idea, but Maybe the thinking in Chitown is Thibs got his team to the playoffs last year without him, he can do it again.

If Melo walks, we can sign Deng. So why would Bulls do this? To get Melo's bird rights? They want Melo? Reinsdorf don't pay taxes, so Im not sure he wants melo at max money.

All things considered, LA don't have a championship team after this year with Melo. Things have to really fall into place by which they dump Nash's salary, Kobe has to return to 7/8's Kobe and MDA has to go with Phil Jax coming back. who plays the big? Pau won't command big bucks but is he their center going forward? To me you get a low priced defensive big and bring Love in as a better value.

If Melo wanted in LA why didn't this happen when he wanted out of Denver? Is LA LA really going to dictate everything? She wants in NY, and now she wants in Los Angeles?

If I trade Melo, his value is highest in LA where his bird rights can be exercised. I hate to say it, but I make a deal with Clippers. My guess is you can get anyone not named CP3. Include Tyson for Jordan and I hate to say that Blake is involved. The rest of the deal is what matters. Get young assets back in return.

No, that is not a championship making deal for us, and its no starphuch but you got to get a base and rebuild from their.

Wont' happen. My gut says Melo is coming back.

Bulls are about defense first. Unless Thibs is sent packing, I don't see them trading for Melo.

Forget what Blake and Jordan do/don't do for us; why the eff do the Clips do this deal? Just asking. They are going to be better than 10-5 and at the top of their division after that deal? You know me love the Melo, but the rest of that squad is pathetic. Watching AuntYawn Jamison after Tyson breaks something else? I ain't buying any JJ CrawfulRedick mutual funds, sorry.

Fun fact about the CBA: you can't extend a guy from a trade if he has fewer than 3 years on his contract according to Marc Stein. So anyone that gets Melo couldn't extend him and would have to sign him to an entirely new contract using their cap space. It would seem we have passed the point of no return with him. Thankfully so, because that Bulls deal is ****.

I dont see the Knicks as having too much to barter. There is only 1 big decision--and it would have to be VERY significant to the Knicks. There is no trade market for an injured Tyson Chandler Amare etc... Shumpert is now at a low. JR Smith is going no where The guys who might bring back a second round pick Udirih Prigioni Metta and Kenyon. thats pretty much it--I don't think a lateral trade that brings in salary past 2015 is wise--we need the cap space.

I would but I don't think Charlotte would. Gordon is in the last year of his deal so they wouldn't be saving any money. If we're planning on trading Tyson we'll probably have to talk to LAC or OKC.

ITs not a panic move for them. I think they have a better upside with CP3-Melo than not.

Don't be sorry, its just a discussion. We don't have a say.

What does the 2015 market really have to offer now that Kevin Love will probably re-sign with the Wolves? I'd hate to be Dallas Maverick'd and stuck paying some 3rd tier players big money to save face. I just don't have confidence in management to make the right moves. Some cap space is nice but maximal cap space is unnecessary and possibly foolhardy.

I think you're right. The Clippers are winning because they are simply more talented than everybody. They have been for a while but it hasn't boded well for them in the playoffs. Griffin is still learning but isn't good enough to be a capable performer, though Melo is; not to mention that Chandler is a doppleganger of Jordan but without the flaws (twice as good a free throw shooter, better pick setter, smarter defender, etc.). The only drawback is that teams can't extend a guy that has less than 3 seasons under contract according to Marc Stein. I'm not sure if that means Melo at this point; maybe he'd have to opt in, in order for it to happen, if it can even happen.

We are not trading Melo regardless. Take away all of the basketball reasons, and we still have to deal with CAA. They are amongst the biggest power brokers in the league, and like it or not, the team must retain a good relationship with them. You want those guys pushing free agents and coaches our way, not telling them Knicks are the worst run franchise in all of sports.

Jackson and Aldridge are definitely options, as well as Rondo, Dragic (early option), Klay Thompson (restricted but could be had for big money), Marc Gasol, and Hibbert. There are definitely some people out there.

I wonder if Bargs will have any trade value in December.

What's depressing is that he's played much better with us than he did before we traded for him, yet teams will still see giving up a draft pick as over paying. Amazing how we give these things away like they were a complimentary after dinner mint.
