He was so done as a player by the end of last year and this seemed like a can't miss roster. The Nets look really bad and appear to not have heart. I thought Pierce/Garnett would have fixed their lack of heart and poise down the stretch issues. Instead the team appears to be worse then last year. It is early in the season but their acquisitions aren't getting younger.
I read yesterday that Kidd and Frank aren't on good terms/ Also there was a piece where scouts were basically saying Kidd doesn't actually seem to do anything- one assistant calls the offense, another the defense. I think they hired Kidd under the idea that he would get the most out of their diva PG, and also to stick it to the Knicks, so I am pleased it's blown up in their face.
Pierce and KG are heart players, so being traded from where they were happy to a new franchise, especially in the last year of their careers, it doesn't exactly inspire them to play at their greatest. Imagine if you loved where you worked and had been there for 15 years, then one year before retirement you were transferred to some other place.
They gave away their next 4 or 5 years to win a championship this season- if they carry on like this it will have been one of the worst offseasons for a team in quite some time. I'm amazed they are not getting a roasting in the media like we are. But then again the media always seems to overestimate and praise the Nets.
