serious question...there is about a 99.9% chance this team will never be successful under dolan.

so...if team success is what you are looking for as a fan, why stick around?

is it b/c of some loyalty during your formative years as a sports fan? is that enough of a reason to stick with a team? foolish pride? fake bravado?

why sink with the ship instead of finding a better situation?

i'm curious behind the psychology of it...this is truly a doom and more doom situation with this owner. there is no light at the end of the tunnel. and in the nba, you can not overcome poor ownership (unlike baseball and football).

seriously, I have been a fan all of my life, but I certainly have changed my approach in how I root for this team. I do watch other teams, such as Denver, Houston, Golden state and the pacers.... I enjoy watching those teams. I must say I am more of a NBA fan at this point.... I hold out hope for the knicks one day, which is what keeps me around.. Hope..

Pretty much the same thing I was wondering. As I said in another post, I came back to this team during the 2011-2012 season after being gone for about 10 years but here for the previous 20+. I keep reading that Dolan is the problem, there is no hope, and I'm beginning to believe it from some of the things I've seen.

I still have some hope for this team, but if a meddling owner, who doesn't knows what's best, continually sticks his fork into the wheel and you believe there is no hope then why support him by watching games? It just encourages him to keep doing what he's been doing.

NO FANS = NO DOLAN ........ but just wishful thinking

he might own the team, technically, but its not his team. its our team. the team is us. the team is the fans. the fans are the team. the team is about the link between fans who share the blue and orange experience. its the shared experience -- even when bad -- that is why we stick together for the hope for an ultimate payoff that is well worth it. b/c its only worth it if you stick it out with a community.

well done...

The good makes the bad even better. Suffering through the horrible trades and FAs of the 80s made watching Jeter, Bernie, Jorge, Mo, Andy, etc etc become a core of a legit and magical dynasty that much sweeter.

Same. Been a fan since I was 15. Back when the games were (occasionally) on public TV (channel 9?).
Otherwise, I would listen on the radio.

Would I have chosen the Knicks if Dolan was around and meddling with the team in the 90s. Knowing what I know now. ABSOLUTELY NOT

The NBA stepped in before Walsh came on--why cant they do it again? James Dolan should not make personnel decisions.

Well apparently they investigated the chris smith signing and found him to be a 'prospect' and did nothing more. The last time the nba stepped in the club president had failed miserably in all aspects of the job and been convicted of sexual harassment with no indication that the owner had any plans of firing him. Dolan hasn't gone that far yet but he certainly has put his stamps of dysfunction and stupidity on the team with the Grunwald firing and Chris Smith signing. Some rumors are out there now that Grunwald was fired because he didn't want to trade Shump and Amare for Wallace and Humphries.

Because being a fan loses all meaning if you switch teams every time there's a new flavor of the month. Why are you a fan of the craptors when they suck just as much?

I don't think loyalty means as much in sports when players are constantly being shuffled on and off rosters. When the 76ers finally won the title in 1983, it was not the same team that I loved just the year before. The victory was hollow. It didn't mean anything to me because Darryl Dawkins had been traded and not on the team anymore. Moses Malone replaced him and some guy named Marc Iavaroni
(I couldn't figure out who the hell he even was or how he got there) was brought in to play PF.

I felt betrayed as a young fan and was part of the reason I gravitated fully to the Knicks. When you go through trials and tribulations with players, it's not the same when they finally do win if the players aren't the same players and there hasn't been any continuity to get there.

dolan is the owner, so why are you a fan?
