I just went to ESPN - NBA to look at box scores from yesterday's couple of games.

Out of 13 stories in the "headlines" section 4 are about the Knicks:

D'Antoni: Too soon to know Kobe's return
Sources: Knicks pitch Shumpert to Celtics
Hill's career night keys Lakers to win
Melo: Like Knicks not trying
Sources: Tempers flared at Cavs' meeting
Knicks' Smith: 'No loyalty player to player'
Blazers need OT to win sixth straight game
Griz weather Kings' charge behind Randolph
Chalmers suspended for flagrant on Dirk
Stoudemire: Minutes limit 'hard to deal with'
Rivers confirms Clips' meeting with Odom
Sacramento fans set indoor noise record
Doolittle: Pistons can't shoot, but that's OK

This kills me. The amount of burn we get is disproportionate, and it's NYC as a whole and the team that bring it upon themselves. Why's it gotta be so hard to be a fan of this team?

This is the reason even before Dolan came on board, we didn't keep young draft picks here, they couldn't handle the night life and the media scrutiny.

JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

Media and espn is brutally hard on the Knicks. It is deserved more now with the Mills hire and Chris Smith but things were stable under Grunwald and the team was successful. The media still went hard at the Knicks.

And Dolan listens and that's why the plan changes every year

The media creates controversy because they know people are interested in the Knicks moreso than Brooklyn. The media furthers their gains

Self-depreciation and realizing your vibe is not originally predicated on anything else will keep you healthy, sane, and a Knicks fan.

Wrong. Duncan is good, Pop is good. Spurs are good. Duncan was not made from Frank Brickowski, and Pop was not created out of Bob Hill. The Chaps did not make the Spurs.

Spurs fans are Spurs fans. There is no sucks or not sucks. There is only fan or not fan. And the choice you are to be making.

This is getting philosophical. To be clear, I don't have a choice to be a Knicks fan. And by default I can't escape the constant bombardment of brain vomit coming from the media regarding my team. Even if I only watched the games, I'd have to do so on mute to get more analysis than fluff and overblown accusations. I just wish there was less drama. It's basketball, not real housewives.

If that is the problem, then how has this team not put proper systems in place to keep their young guys doing the right things and kept them out of the scrutiny. You would think there would be a dedicated player development staff well versed in the pitfalls of being a rookie here. I'm just not having that as the reason. I still blame the front office. There have been a number of guys who stepped it up despite the lights over the years. These guys entertain. The lights aren't the problem. Dolan and the media are.

Exactly. This time get enough media attention as it is. That's why it's frustrating when the organization continues to make things worse with erratic decision making.

everything dysfunctional and alienating has been put in place systemically by dolan.

only he is capable of pulling the knicks back into laughing-stock status after the league gave him a chance to step aside and allow a process to unfold.

knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%

You can always continue to look at brain vomit for what it is. Helps to have that outlook on here, as well. In retaining your fandom, I mean.

Win or lose, enjoy the team. More than you enjoy trying to be right or explaining how to manage things you will never have any input to.
Stick with them; good, bad or infuriating.

you can be a fan of the knicks and express displeasure and dissatisfaction with the goings-on. they are not mutually exclusive.

and ever since dolan has been the owner there has been almost no good, only bad and infuriating. i am not going to tell others how to be fans, but at this point only knuckleheads can support let alone enjoy this crapfest.

1) I agree that the media coverage of the Knicks does not appear to be positive in any light. Berman, Isola and the others are not Knicks fans nor are they sympathetic to the plight of the die hard fans.

2) That said, the Knicks media policy has not been well meaning to the reporters covering the Knicks week in and week out. There is something to be said about a company that treats the media so poorly. Particularly where they get coaches and players in trouble for speaking their minds to the media and create rules that are meant to stifle the free flow of information. Not sure who is more at fault here.

3) Cablevision's policies regarding their own paper, Newsday, leaves much to be desired. To the extent that they had good writers in a position to write articles with a positive vibe, they took those forums and made them subscriber based. So, even the guys who could affect a positive mentality had the pen taken out of their hands, effectively. I know Alan Hahn is now on MSG, but I really enjoyed his blog. I don't understand why Cablevision would take that forum away from the people.

4) I stick to the forums, like this, and the blogs listed on the homepage. The critiques aren't always full of koolaid, but they seem to be knowledgeable and well intentioned. I basically ignore the bs articles by Berman and Isola at this point because I know the information that is relevant will come out from a more neutral source.

You know I gonna spin wit it

Enjoy the team? Are eating mushrooms dude? Your posts in this thread are from another age man. You gave me a chuckle though, thanks for that. Went all zen master on us. I'm usually explaining my displeasure with how the team is run, and usually my rantings (yes, I'll call them rantings) are based on analysis of successful clubs and what the fuhuck all has gone wrong with this organization.

And I am right. All the time. That you just need to know. When I explain, you should listen, carefully. That's just common knowledge. Big ups to me!

Just make sure you are not confusing supporting with rooting for the team. I root for this team. I don't support Grunwald being fired or Steve Mills being hired. I don't support Chris SMith being on the team and I don't support Dolan apparently being more hands on in decision making (i.e. minutes limits and line ups). But once the ball is tipped I am locked in and rooting for the Knicks to win and I certainly don't support them losing for a change in the coaching staff or so that I can blast certain players.

I'm at the point where I actually root for them to lose and get annoyed when they actually beat teams that are worse. Someone mentioned that we need to hit rock bottom so that Dolan possibly wakes up. I agree 100% even if it takes a few years to rebuild this team properly
