Perfect radio host to make your first appearance as GM considering francesa has no idea who he is and that he was part of the isiah regime. Francesa actually thinks Mills is a well respected GM. While reading the paper for Knicks news which is how he gets his NBA news since he doesn't follow the NBA like he does mlb and nfl. He glossed over the fact that mills has already failed here before. Now had it been Isiah he would know exactly who he is interviewing

Mills just said he's big on accountability.........while he let Isiah amass a horrendous record over 6 years and a sexual harassment lawsuit while he was team president. Jesus Christ is this guy serious?

Interesting comment from Mills. He is very good friends with Craig Robinson, coach of Oregon State. Played with Mills on the Princeton basketball team in the early 1980's and Mills said he spoke with him to discuss which job to take (Knicks GM; or NBA Players Assoc; or Princeton Athletic Director and Craig advised Knicks.) Oh, and one other small fact about Craig Robinson....

Craig Robinson is Michele Obama's older brother. That makes Craig R President Obama's brother-in-law and Obama is a very strong Chicago Bulls fan. Where's Playa when I need him? Sounds like a conspiracy to me.

i half listened as i was busy but the takeaways:

1)he, like dolan, is a product of nepotism and is comfortable with that as well as cronyism
2)he is interested in incorporating more advanced stats into the way knicks assess a player's value
3)he believes that stat and melo can co-exist but it's up to woody to figure it out. uh yeah right

knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%

Wow. He must have missed this from Amare,
Amar'e says 'unfortunately my career has been somewhat tainted by injuries' but remains confident that he can function at a high level.

Stoudemire said he's trying to prolong his career. Expects to play between 20-25 minutes. Says his "career is not over."

Does anyone have a link to the interview?

Mills supposedly addressed the elephant in the room on ESPN Radio (as per RealGM).

Steve Mills is known to be close to Isiah Thomas

“No, Isiah Thomas will not be coming back to the Knicks,” said Mills.

Dolan may have concluded that Mills, who also worked a number of years for the N.B.A. in addition to his decade with the Knicks, and who got to know a significant number of agents and top players as he vied in recent months for the union job, will be a good person to lead the team’s free-agent efforts.

hmm...okay...makes some more sense, but grunwald was doing well, i thought.

i have been amongst those arguing we are looking to be in the free agent game soon.
