Guys troll on JR like crazy here but he is a good guy, very accessible to nba fans in person and via social media. Does more than the minimum charity work that many do. Props to JR

the fact that you can't even have an unrelated thread without some tool here bringing him up make me think that rational minds are few and far between. Bunch of emotionally weak, angst riddled people. I mean, how many times can you argue the same shyt

And makes sure it gets publicized too!

Nobody said JR was evil, and involuntary vehicular manslaughter aside, JR is a great guy!

He is a bone head and has an uneven history. He is friendly, outgoing and has some charitable events.

In fact, most players do.

Kudo's to JR and his legions of fans!

Wow, Your trying to sell us on JR? We all saw the article, its a nice story.

I'd say for the most part UK has been great to him because its all about what he does on the court.
He had a great season and all we know is he had "the elbow moment", then pic's of him dazed and mesmorized at Rihannas ass (I am too BTW), knicks lose momentum in series, he comes back plays like crap, THENNNNNNNNN MSG tells us his knee is bad.

With his history, its a reasonable assumption. Now in hindsight with nice story in the papers of him being charitable your trying to tell us "Trolls" had him wrong? We go on what we read.

Dude loves to play golf and has a publicist to get him some positive press.

JR is beloved in NY if he can keep it on the court and be the good guy he seems to be.

If you want to sell on his propoganda and start a thread, then its a dicsussion.

ANd thats all we doing. Just discussing.

not trying to sell anything. I just feel if we can pile on when they do something wrong, we can recognize it when they do something right. How is that selling anything? Your so skeptical about everything.

I don't watch basketball to lay judgement on people, really, unless they annoy me (Dwight Howard!), but for all the criticism he gets, JR always come across as a nice enough guy in interviews. Hasn't caused any trouble while he's been here, apart from the elbow in the playoffs (and as a Knick fan from the 90s, I don't get worked up about that kind of stuff!), he works hard, listens to the coach and has repeatedly taken less to play in NY. I have no problem with him.

Im a JR fan but i agree with nalod. Jr has done some foolish things in the past. He seems to be a nice guy but a work in process. I wish him the best
Knicks should be improved: win about 40 games and maybe sneak into the playoffs. Melo, Rose and even Noah will have some nice moments however this team should be about PORZINGUS. the sooner they make him the primary player, the better

They guy tweets, gets jumpy and goes for a 2am bike ride, Plays golf, and you think you know him?

Do I?

Nope, but im not on the internet gushing about the guy like a 13 year old girl in love with Bieber either.

Sorry, Im not laying judgement on him but at the same time you enter the room with this post and wish to discuss!

IM sorry or were just making a public proclamation about your new Personal JR and defending his honor?

You read an propagnda piece on him. Google NBA players and charity work. Its all over the place. Contractually some have to do it and sometimes the players contractually ask the teams to help them.

Remember Marbury and the fiasco of his cheapo shoes being hailed as some charitable event? Dude has been trying for years to start his own line and it was big part of him going to china.

"im so skeptical", naw, just keeping it real. This is not about JR btw, its about the propaganda that MSG ejaculates and fans lapping up the perl necklace of intamacy that they think players are offering them.

Just don't swallow.

Yeah, you're not skeptical. Or overly cynical. The man takes bike rides and stares at Rihanna's bootay. Oh yeah, you forgot the moped ticket.

Let me go back and read some of your Nyets relish swallowing posts.

The 90's were great. Do you also remember the emotional baggage that came with Starks and Mason's untimely tech's because they could not contain themselves? I do.

JR Elbow was not about "Being tough", it was about being distracted by a veteran player looking to get into his head and distract him from the game. IT was about a veteran team on the ropes like a boxer in his last match not wanting to leave without giving it everyting! Fans knew Boston would not go down witout a fight and try to pull every trick! Thats what prideful men do. They find the weakness in the opponent and attack it. What we got? KG got into Melo's head and Terry got into JR's in the playoffs.

Personally, JR can give all his money away and build hospitals and I think thats great. But All I ask him is to be a professonal and take care of his body, his mind, be in the best shape possible and give his audiance the best he can. If he don't make his mark on the court it don't matter what he does off it.

IF a poster wants to get in others face about JR not being treated right because he played golf with a Downs Syndrom guy and he is now paying his parking tickets and not killing passengers in his car......Then we go to Chris Rock:

"Your suppose to pay your parking tickets and not kill your friends"

JR didn't kill any one this year, JR didn't post naked pictures to the public, JR didn't get arrested, JR not partying this year like last year,..................And look, he got 6th man of the year and would have made a lot of money had he not crashed at the end of the year and got suspended, caught in the media staring in a niteclube, and played like a bone head upon return.

He had a bad knee? Ok, don't look like too many teams were lining up to sign him either!

Kid has a world of talent and what you do off the court supports what you do on it.

Its called "professionalism". If he had it he'd have made 100mm by now!

Im rooting for JR, but not drinking the "poor JR don't get no love around here" Kool aid bullshyt!

what kind of question is that...did I state anything of a personal nature regarding JR to give you the sense that I THINK I KNOW HIM??? I said he is very accessible to fans via twitter and in person. Gave him props for doing charity work.......why are you making or trying to make this into something more than it is?

I explained the reason for my wow, after you read a whole lot into that one word. Accused me of trying to sell JR on folks and now this?

Denver Nuggets guard J.R. Smith expected to plead guilty for driving violations in deadly crash

Tony Kurdzuk/The Star-LedgerDenver Nuggets basketball player J.R. Smith at a pretrial hearing in February. Smith's attorney today said Smith will likely plead guilty to motor vehicle violations from an accident that killed his friend nearly two years ago.
Denver Nuggets guard J.R. Smith most likely will plead guilty to motor vehicle violations from an accident that killed his friend in Millstone nearly two years ago, his attorney said today.
At a second municipal court appearance for Smith since the deadly accident, Municipal Court Judge Debra Gelson in Millstone set a trial date of May 19, but attorneys said they expect the matter to be resolved without a trial.
Kevin Hexstall, one of Smith's attorneys, confirmed after court that Smith is discussing a plea agreement.
"That's what we're working toward," Hexstall said.
He would not discuss the case further.
A star basketball player from Lakewood High School and St. Benedict's Prep in Newark, the 23-year-old Smith is facing charges of improper passing, failure to stop at a stop sign, reckless driving, speeding and failure to wear a seat belt in connection with the accident that killed Andre Bell, 21, of East Orange.
Police said Smith, at the wheel of a 2003 GMC Yukon, drove around a car stopped at an intersection and into the path of another vehicle on June 8, 2007. The collision ejected Bell and Smith from the SUV. Bell died two days later of serious head injuries. Smith sustained a sprained left shoulder.
After a grand jury in Monmouth County declined to indict Smith in October on the more serious charge of vehicular homicide, the matter was sent to municipal court. Smith failed to show up for his first scheduled appearance on Jan. 13, prompting Gelson to find him and one of his attorneys, Greg Mordas, guilty of failure to appear. She fined each of them $1,000 at a second pretrial hearing Feb. 17.
Mordas said at the time he advised Smith he did not need to show up for the January hearing. At the time, Hexstall said Smith had every intention of attending the January hearing but did as he was advised.
At the time of the accident, Smith had amassed 27 points and five suspensions on his driver's license. Between the time of the accident and October 2008, he accumulated two more speeding tickets and three more suspensions.
"We have conferenced this extensively, gentlemen, and discussed a number of issues, and my understanding, counsel, at this time is that we anticipate that at that May 19 date that this matter will be resolved without a trial," Gelson said. "Is that correct, counsel?"
"At this point, that is our goal and we anticipate that," Hexstall said.

What does this all matter?

Hey, I didn't start the discussion.

I don't really watch basketball with the mentality of an accountant (no offense to accountants!)- I'm not appalled by displays of emotion or scuffles breaking out (actually find it quite fun)- all part of the game. I hate the sanitizing of the nba by people who seem to want it to have the intensity of a friendly round of golf.

I don't know why people who lose a bit of control over their emotions are labelled 'idiots'- it's an issue of emotional regulation not intellect- to be honest, with all the adrenaline and testosterone going on in athletes during a game, I'm surprised fights don't happen more often.

As long as a player puts in 100% effort, I'll still get mad when they mess up, but I'll get over it.

I agree, to the same degree a fluff story about him befriending a special needs young man has nothing to do with basketball.

I don't care if JR is satan or a saint off the court as long as he can be professional on the court. Kind of like Jason Kidds DUI last year, it happend, he took care of it and showed up to camp in shape and ready to go.

So if Anyone gonna try to fluff up JR with a good guy image I really don't care for it when its apparent his inconsistent career mirrors an inconsistent life off the court.

When you can't control your emotions in the playoffs and you lose the game/series because of it your a bad teammate!

Its a selfish unprofessional act. JR suspension allowed Boston back in the series. If we swept Boston and had some rest, might it have helped against the Pacers? Maybe. We'll never know.

Nalod wrote:"im so skeptical", naw, just keeping it real.

Sooner or later, in Objective Centrist Land, everything reverts to bukkake, huh?

Lol, exactly my dude....... couldn't have put it better myself.

Nobody said JR was evil, and involuntary vehicular manslaughter aside, JR is a great guy!

He is a bone head and has an uneven history. He is friendly, outgoing and has some charitable events.

In fact, most players do.

Kudo's to JR and his legions of fans!

wow

Again Nalod is showing you whats in his heart for certain image players. Then he tries to smooth it over and think people can't see thru it.

Shaking my head rolling my eyes wondering if he's a real person or a satellite Gobot sent to this forum.

Waiting for his conspiracy rant in 5,4,3,2......

JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

Dude, you should stick to cut and paste then attempt to construct good content!

You can see into my heart? How do you know I even have one?
